The Gunners’ highly-rated defender Kieran Tierney touted as Newcastle’s summer signing
Newcastle United are very much interested to rope in a highly-rated defender from Arsenal. According to The Athletic, Kieran Tierney is on top of Newcastle’s list of summer targets. The Magpies reckon that Tierney is the perfect attacking full-back to play under Eddie Howe.
The former Celtic defender has been playing second fiddle to Ukrainian international Oleksandr Zinchenko for Arsenal. Notably, the former Man City defender played the most minutes in the EPL as compared to Tierney. The Scottish professional footballer struggled for enough game time this season. [ Arsenal Newsnow ]
Meanwhile, Tierney also doesn’t want to be on the bench as he wants to get connected in the game. Earlier, reports were rife that Arsenal management will not stand in the way of Kieran Tierney if he wants to shift his base to the other club. Apparently, the table-toppers will be demanding £25 million for Tierney in the summer transfer window.
“Tierney was left out initially because he was injured, and the player who came in for him has done well. Arsenal manager probably decided to rope in Zinchenko because he wants the Gunners to play the same way as Manchester City, with the full-backs playing on the inside rather than outside,” Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish told The Sunday Post. “Oleksandr was taught that way at Man City, so he is used to it. Tierney is not. That does not mean to say Kieran has gone backwards as a player. It is just that someone else has been a wee bit better. We have seen what Tierney can do in the minutes he has had for them setting up a goal against Crystal Palace. Now Kieran is with Scotland and it is a great chance for him to put his case forward for Mike,” he added. [ Arsenal Newsnow ]
