Arsenal Newsnow: Despite reports that Arsenal is interested in signing Crystal Palace player Michael Olise for the 2023-24 season, Olise apparently wants to stay with his current club.

After a breakout season on the right wing, 21-year-old Olise has become a mainstay in the Selhurst Park starting lineup. After joining the Eagles from Reading for about £8 million in 2021, he has been instrumental in the club’s rise to the middle of the Premier League’s table.

The left-footed inverted winger who has earned two caps for France’s U21 team has blossomed in recent years. In 30 Premier League appearances this season, he has contributed to two goals and eight assists. These include a hat trick in a single game.

The Sun reports that Olise wants to continue playing for Crystal Palace in the next season. He has found a home with the south London club. He wants to improve his consistency at his club despite the speculation regarding his future.

Arsenal has identified Olise, who is under contract with the Eagles until June 2026, as a player they would want to acquire in the next summer transfer window. According to Football Transfers, Palace is willing to sell him for £40 million.

Recently, Eagles manager Roy Hodgson gushed about the former Arsenal and Chelsea young player in an interview with the club media.

He said: “I have seen him for 10 days less than I have seen the others. What I make of him is that I think he is an enormous talent. He has got a great possibility to have a wonderful career and a wonderful future. We can only hope that we can give him that platform.”

What’s the next for the Gunners?

Olise established himself as a star during the 2020-21 season while playing for Reading before being acquired by Palace. Moreover, in 44 games played, he contributed seven goals and twelve assists as they finished sixth in the Championship.

Mikel Arteta was questioned about William Saliba on Sunday (April 16) before Arsenal’s Premier League match against West Ham United.

He said: “William is still not available, but he is not far off. We are starting to (get him to do light training), but we need to be cautious because of the injury. He is evolving well right now, and we are hopeful that we are going to have him available in the next couple of weeks.”

Saliba, 22 years old, hasn’t played since being hurt against Sporting CP in the UEFA Europa League last month. In 33 games this season, he has recorded three goals and one assist.
