Arsenal Newnsow: Simon Jordan, formerly of Crystal Palace, has said that Eddie Nketiah may not have a future at Arsenal. The analyst predicts that the Gunners will add a new striker to their roster this summer who will be more effective than Nketiah.

In the Premier League, Arsenal has performed really well, currently holding the top spot with just seven games remaining. When fielding their first team, Arsenal has been practically unbeatable. But their reserves have had trouble asserting themselves.

While Gabriel Jesus was out with an injury last season, backup centre striker Nketiah scored a couple of vital goals. However, he has not been nearly as reliable since the Brazilian’s return. Jordan said that the Londoners would want to acquire a more capable backup centre forward this summer. Thus Nketiah would not be depended upon for much longer.

Nketiah has scored four goals in 24 Premier League games this season. His two goals in the Gunners’ 3-2 triumph against Manchester United in January were the game-winners. The England U21 ace hasn’t scored in the league in seven outings.

On talkSPORT, Jordan said (via HITC): “I think they will get better. I think also they will buy better. They’ve got the ear and the eyes of the Kroenke family. (Arsenal’s owners) are more invested than they have ever been before. And, with all due respect, you will have better players than Eddie Nketiah because they will buy bigger.”

In his first five games as a starter for Arsenal in December, Eddie Nketiah scored four goals. While Gabriel Jesus was out with a knee injury, Nketiah kept the North London club on track for the championship while they waited for Jesus to recuperate.

The clubs in the Premier League were initially unprepared for Nketiah’s directness. This allowed the 23-year-old to slip into the league without much fanfare. However, opponents’ defences have been bolstered since his brace against the Red Devils.

Nketiah’s directness is both his greatest strength and worst flaw. Nketiah lacks Jesus’ ability to swoop low and float wide to make room. He should be the main focus of your efforts. Mikel Arteta’s squad, however, does not always play with such intensity and precision.

To throw off defences, they often move their wingers and offensive midfielders up front. Despite his many strengths, Nketiah is not a good fit for that environment.

If the Gunners take Jordan’s advice, they’ll give Arteta the players he needs to implement the system he’s attempting to develop. Nketiah should find a new squad that plays a more direct style of football and provides him with consistent playing time.
