FC Barcelona are looking forward to offering a new 4 year deal to Croatian international Ivan Rakitic. The Catalan club is preparing to hand over a new 4 deal to Ivan Rakitic which will run out at the end of 2021 season. The Spanish giants have already reached an agreement with the 28 year old Croatian having agreed to pen down a extension which will end by 2020-21 season.
Ivan Rakitic’s agent Artur Canales held a meeting with the Catalan Clubs technical director since December of last year and since the negotiations had started to hand over Rakitic a new deal, Now both the parties came to mutual agreement and the official announcement will be made in a week or so.
However FC Barcelona’s recent performance on the field recently have been very very poor, The Catalans lost 4-0 away to PSG in the Round 16 UCL fixture and now are very much out of the tournament, Manager Luis Enrique on the other hand is in immense scrutiny due too the recent results which might see him leave the Blaugrana at the end of this season.
A few source’s claim that FC Barcelona might announce the Contract renewal of Ivan Rakitic next month, Maybe at the start of the International break.
At start of the summer market last season the former Sevilla man was linked to many major European clubs which included the likes of Juventus, Manchester United and Chelsea as a few quoted that Ivan was unhappy at Nou Camp and wanted a new challenge, But the Croatian rejected a few lucrative offers to play for Barcelona.
Juventus have showed a keen interest in the 28 year midfield maestro as he fits perfectly in their playing style, However their bid was rejected by Barcelona with no further comment.
There had been a few rumours doing rounds in December that the Croat was unhappy with the manager as he wasn’t treated the way he should have been but the manager has spoken with the player and everything has been cleared out.
Many Barcelona fans might be happy with this news as one of the key player of the club has pledged his future to the club.
Ivan Rakitic had moved to Barcelona in 2014 for mere sum of €18m. He has since then become a regular first team player and has enjoyed success with the Blaugrana.
