The 25-year-old defender has plummeted to the bottom of Arsenal’s pecking order and is expected to be released soon. Even Premier League giants Manchester City want to sign him. However, the Magpies are now in the lead.
Tierney went through the Celtic club’s levels before joining Arsenal in the 2019 offseason. In those first few years, the now-25-year-old did become a mainstay on their first team. However, the current season has not gone as planned. The Scotland international has been plagued by injuries. He has seen his playing time reduced since Manchester City signed Oleksandr Zinchenko. He has played in 34 games, albeit for just a little over 1,400 minutes.

The 25-year-old wants to go because he is unhappy with his playing time and would like to find a better chance elsewhere. The clubgoers have already engaged him in the discussion. A trade to another team has been mutually agreed upon as the best course of action. Manchester City and Newcastle United are both keen on signing him. Since Joao Cancelo’s transfer to Bayern Munich, City have been without a left-back. Cancelo will return to the club this summer, although it seems probable that he will be sold before then.
