N’Golo Kante of Chelsea has reportedly re-emerged as a possibility to strengthen Barcelona’s midfield, according to Gerard Romero of Jijantes FC. Agents have lately presented the Blaugrana with the opportunity to acquire the Chelsea midfielder. However, Martin Zubimendi is still Xavi Hernandez’s first choice to step in for Sergio Busquets.
After starting off relatively unnoticed in the professional world, N’Golo Kante has gone on to have a remarkable career. When Leicester City signed the French international in August 2015, he was a complete surprise. But after leading Leicester City to a Premier League championship in 2015–16, his reputation soared. In July of 2016, he was signed by Chelsea.
The 32-year-old had a comparable influence during his debut season at Chelsea, leading them to the Premier League championship. Since then, Kante’s stock has continued to rise as he has won every major honour with his club and led France to a FIFA World Cup victory in 2018. The talented midfielder has been plagued by injuries over the last three years, reducing his worth to €20 million.
Despite Kante’s recent troubles, he still has a high market value. The Frenchman’s contract has reached its last weeks. Chelsea is making last-ditch efforts to keep him. He was rumoured to be signing a new two-year contract with Chelsea in March. However, with no sign of renewal, Barcelona may use the opportunity.

Barcelona has apparently been given the opportunity to recruit N’Golo Kante, a cultured midfielder for Chelsea, via intermediaries this summer
Barcelona will be active in the transfer market this summer in order to replace Sergio Busquets. At the conclusion of the season, the veteran midfielder will complete his great career with Barcelona. With Busquets gone, the midfield will be severely depleted.
This has led to a slew of midfielders being considered by Barcelona, with Xavi Hernandez giving Martin Zubimendi top billing. According to recent rumours, the Catalan giants have also initiated negotiations with Real Sociedad. However, Barcelona is in a jam since Zubimendi will set them back roughly €60 million. The Blaugrana have been offered Kante.
Kante’s market worth is €20 million, but Barcelona will get him for free. And the Catalan giants are in a good position to recruit the Frenchman if he does not renegotiate his contract with Chelsea. It remains to be seen, though, whether Barcelona makes the midfielder a priority.
According to Calciomercato, Roberto Firmino has opted not to extend his contract with Liverpool, making him a free agent this coming summer. Moreover, the 31-year-old has been an important cog for Liverpool. So losing him would be a major setback. It’s unfortunate to lose a player of Firmino’s calibre as a free agent. How Liverpool adjusts without him remains to be seen. With 12 goals in all competitions this season, the Brazilian international might be a valuable addition to AC Milan.
