A report from Give Me Sport suggests Chelsea may try one more time to prevent Mason Mount from leaving. Media speculations of an impending departure are gaining momentum. Manchester United is reportedly willing to pay £85 million for the player.
Manchester United are reportedly putting together a bid for Mason Mount of Chelsea in an effort to sign him this summer, as reported by David Ornstein on Wednesday. There has been much speculation in recent weeks over the 24-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge due to the Blues’ inability to reach an agreement on a new deal with the player.
Chelsea might want far more than Manchester United’s reported £55 million to get the midfielder. According to further reports, the Blues may want as much as £85 million for the highly regarded Premier League player.
Manchester United is now awaiting word from the club’s owners. The club will be able to finalise a budget for the next summer and begin pursuing important players once a solution has been found. Mount apparently wants to join the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag is a fan of the notion.
New Chelsea boss Maurizio Pochettino is keen for the team to extend Mount’s stay and sign the Englishman to a new deal. Despite claims that the £85 million-rated Manchester United target has rejected a £200,000-a-week contract, the two sides have not yet reached an agreement.

Despite rumours that Mason Mount would soon be leaving Chelsea, the club may make one more effort to keep him at Stamford Bridge
Now that Mount has received so much attention from other teams, Chelsea may make one final effort to keep him from leaving. The Blues have a short window to make a bid before the Manchester United target, who is valued at £85 million, starts seriously evaluating the various offers he may get.
If Mount is insistent about departing, Chelsea will test the determination of their Premier League opponents by asking for a hefty transfer price. Mount has also drawn attention from Arsenal and Liverpool. However, it seems that Manchester United will ultimately sign him.
Mount also has the option of remaining with his childhood club, Chelsea. However, he would only sign with the club if they offered him a deal befitting of his position on the squad. Many have speculated that he wants a salary of over £250,000 per week to match that of his colleague Reece James.
N’Golo Kante of Chelsea has reportedly re-emerged as a possibility to strengthen Barcelona’s midfield, according to Gerard Romero of Jijantes FC. Agents have lately presented the Blaugrana with the opportunity to acquire the Chelsea midfielder. However, Martin Zubimendi is still Xavi Hernandez’s first choice to step in for Sergio Busquets.
