For the next season, Liverpool reportedly wants to add Romeo Lavia to their roster. The young midfielder’s excellent play this season at age 19 makes him a promising star of the game’s future. Multiple teams have shown interest in signing him.
Lavia through the ranks at Manchester City before making the move to Southampton this season. Since then, he’s just become better and better. Despite the Saints’ struggles, several teams have shown interest in the 19-year-old because of his solid play. This is despite the fact that the team is likely to drop back to the EFL Championship. Despite having a contract with the Saints that lasts through the summer of 2027, he may be leaving the team this summer.
One of the clubs interested in signing the teenager is Liverpool, where he would play as a defensive midfielder. This season, the Merseyside team has suffered due to inconsistency in the middle of the pitch. They want to make sweeping changes in the midfield, according to boss Jurgen Klopp.
He plans to recruit many players to help revitalise his team’s midfield and overall fortunes. The German coach is keen on bringing in a new central midfielder. A young defensive midfielder is another player he is looking to acquire. Furthermore, Klopp thinks Lavia would be an excellent addition to the team, both now and in the future.
The Saints have priced the services of their 19-year-old star player at £50 million, knowing full well the level of interest in him. In the summer of 2024, Manchester City will have the option to acquire Lavia back for £40 million, per a stipulation in his contract.
It has been speculated that Liverpool might trade Tyler Morton to Southampton for defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia
The Saints might gain greatly from the next transfer window if they sell the 19-year-old for £50 million. As for Liverpool, they’d prefer a price cut if they’re going to be able to recruit many players this summer. Also, they want to trade Southampton a promising young player named Tyler Morton, who is just 20 years old.
