As Real Madrid look to defend their Champions League title this season, it seems that Zinedine Zidane already has some plans for the future as well. This is with regards to the kind of players that he wishes to add to his current squad in the summer transfer window, in order to make it “better”.
After the La Liga giants chased Manchester United’s David de Gea for a season or two and failed to add him to their squad, the Los Blancos now want Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois.
The Madrid based side looks quite eager to make this high quality keeper their first choice and take Keylor Navas’ place in front of goal, who has done fairly well himself.
The Blues know that Courtois has been a huge asset for them and the current Premier League leaders will not want him to leave Stamford Bridge any time soon.
Recently, the Belgian international also denied that he was moving to the Bernabeu any time soon and that west London was his home.
However, if Real want someone, they do tend to go get the player, in most cases and this is one factor that the English side would be considering too.
Now, due to this fear, it seems that the Londoners will offer Courtois a new deal, which will see him earn more than £200,000-a-week, as a precautionary step.
Though there are no doubts about the loyalty of the 24 year old goalie, previous rumours that he wanted to return to Spain would have also added fuel to the fire and Chelsea now feel it is the best time to react and win him over.
