Arsenal Will Sell Their Star For Just €4 To €5M

Arsenal is in the midst of advanced negotiations with Turkish club Trabzonspor as they seek to part ways with their 28-year-old winger, Nicolas Pepe. The move appears to be on the verge of completion, with significant progress being made in discussions between the two clubs.

Nicolas Pepe’s journey to Arsenal began after his impressive development at Angers SCO, eventually earning him a move to LOSC Lille in the summer of 2017. During his time at Lille, the 28-year-old winger’s skills and performances garnered significant attention from various clubs eager to secure his services.

In a competitive race, Arsenal secured Pepe’s signature, breaking the bank with a substantial €80 million transfer fee for the Ivory Coast international. Although he didn’t immediately set the Premier League ablaze in his first season, Pepe still managed to contribute with 18 goals in 42 appearances.

He followed up with another decent season, but Pepe failed to reach the lofty heights that Arsenal had hoped for. By the 2021-22 season, he had lost his guaranteed starter status, and his situation continued to deteriorate from there. His fortunes led him to a loan spell at OGC Nice last season, where he featured in 28 matches and contributed nine goals.

Returning to Arsenal, it’s clear that Pepe has no place in their current squad. Bukayo Saka has solidified his position as the team’s starter, with Reiss Nelson as a capable backup. Consequently, Arsenal will offload the Ivory Coast international, especially considering that his contract is set to expire next summer. There are no plans to extend Pepe’s stay at the club, making an immediate sale a prudent financial decision to recoup some of their initial €80 million investment.

Arsenal in Advanced Talks to Offload Nicolas Pepe

While the transfer window has closed across most of Europe, the window in Turkey remains open, and Trabzonspor is eager to secure Pepe’s services. Negotiations between Arsenal and Trabzonspor have been ongoing for some time, and it appears that they are entering the final stages.

Arsenal is seeking a transfer fee in the range of €4 to €5 million for Pepe, and Trabzonspor seems inclined to meet their demands. The 28-year-old player will make his final decision regarding the move in the near future. While there was interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, their pursuit has come too late, as the Middle Eastern transfer window closed today.

Nicolas Pepe’s potential departure from Arsenal to Trabzonspor marks a significant development in the football transfer market. His time at Arsenal may not have lived up to the initial expectations, but a fresh start in Turkey could provide the talented winger with the opportunity to reignite his career. As negotiations near their conclusion, all eyes will be on whether this transfer will come to fruition and whether it will prove to be a beneficial move for both clubs and the player himself.
