Deal Done!!
Manchester United have now agreed a deal with Merseyside outfit Everton, in order to bring former Chelsea man Romelu Lukaku to Old Trafford. The deal completed is said to be for a fee of £75m, which will see the Belgian international join Jose Mourinho’s side now. The move will be rather surprising for the fans, as the attacker was being strongly linked with a return to Stamford Bridge recently.
Since the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from United, the Portuguese boss was looking to add more quality striker to his side.
Due to this, Alvaro Morata of Real Madrid was one of the primary targets, though the champions of Europe were stalling a deal, in recent times.
It seems now that Mourinho and the management of the club, eventually lost their patience with the Los Blancos and decided to look for an alternative, after their recent bid for the Spaniard was rejected by Real.
Lukaku was quite keen on leaving the Toffees this summer, as he had made his mind up and it seems now that The Theatre of Dreams could be his new home now.
This will be a huge boost for United, who were looking to fortify their front-line, as the 24 year old striker is a renowned goal-scorer.
Everton too looked keen on cashing in on him, as the Toffees star was not really keen on playing any further at Goodison Park.
Major Wayne Rooney update :
Another major update that has come out of the move is that, Rooney will not be moving the other way at present, though a deal for the 31 year old England international is still on the cards.
The United skipper is not the fierce attacking star that he used to be and United have at times, dropped him to the bench under Mourinho.
He has become more of a midfielder now, rather than being the man upfront and though he has not lost his passion or love for the club and the game, the Manchester based side have way better and younger players now.
This would have urged Mourinho to let go of him and spend the money made out of the deal, to add more young high quality stars, which might help his team win the league and the Champions League in the near future.
Is Lukaku worth the money?
Desperation has a new name and it is “Romelu Lukaku” for Manchester United. The Premier League outfit have seriously paid a lot more than what he deserves, though he does have the quality to score goals. If Lukaku plays like he did for Chelsea, or does not perform, the deal could totally back-fire on United.
Hopefully, Mourinho knows what he is doing and has a plan, though filling Zlatan’s shoes, will be no easy task.
The fact that he will have support from players like Martial and Rashford, could help him out to an extent, though eventually it will all depend on how he performs at an individual level.
He has been long enough in the league to know about it and what will be expected from him and the United fans would be hoping that he is worth every penny that the club have paid for him now. Like our FB page for more updates!!
