Arsenal News: According to Bologna Sport News, Aston Villa is now in the running to sign Joshua Zirkzee during the upcoming summer transfer window. The Premier League team is looking to outsmart their rivals Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle in the race to sign the talented Bologna attacker. There are rumors circulating that super-agent Kia Joorabchian is working on a deal to bring Zirkzee to Villa Park.
Zirkzee, who started his career at VV Hekelingen before moving on to ADO Den Haag and Feyenoord, ended up at Bayern in 2017. Unfortunately, his time at Allianz Arena didn’t result in a breakthrough, and he was eventually sold to Bologna in August 2022 after a few loan spells. The 22-year-old Dutch striker has played 53 games for the Serie A side, scoring 13 goals, including 10 in 29 Serie A matches this season. Villa, who are in the running for a Champions League spot, have expressed interest in signing Zirkzee, joining Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Manchester United in the pursuit of his services.
With the help of sporting director Monchi’s extensive experience in Serie A, acquired during his time at AS Roma from 2017 to 2019, Villa is looking to strengthen their attacking choices. The club is aiming to qualify for the Champions League and is currently level on points with Tottenham, although they have played one more game. Apparently, discussions have begun with Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian. It is believed that the player’s salary would be around €4 million per year, while Bologna is looking for a transfer fee between €60–70 million.
Aston Villa Join Race In The Signing Of The Arsenal Target
Villa’s striking options consist of Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran. But if Champions League football becomes a reality, they’ll likely want more options up front, especially with all the talk about their current forwards’ future. In addition to his impressive goal-scoring, Zirkzee has also demonstrated his talent for creating opportunities, providing six assists in all competitions this season. With his impressive attacking statistics, including an average of 2.7 shots and 1.3 key passes per game, he certainly catches the eye as a promising prospect for Villa. It seems that Zirkzee would be a perfect match for Unai Emery’s attacking style and tactical approach, which prioritises flair and interplay.
Mikel Arteta said after the game against Bayern Munich: “It was a really intense match. I think we started really well. We started to dominate it, to play in the opponents’ half and we generated some momentum, scored a really good goal with B. And there obviously was the moment in the match when Ben White is in front of Neuer to make it 2-0 and then the game and the tie changes quickly. We didn’t [score] and then unfortunately today, we have given two very poor goals away and against a team with that individual quality, they’re going to punish you. The team reacted really well. It is because the game can become very chaotic and you can start to lose some discipline and start to allow them to run, and in that moment, you can lose the tie.”
