Let Him Go?
The Arsenal camp have reported that the club is willing to offer star midfielder Jack Wilshere to Serie A outfit AC Milan, after it was confirmed that the Londoners were planning to sell him this summer. The news comes as a big surprise as Arsene Wenger may look to sell his prized asset to raise funds for other arrivals at the Emirates stadium.
Milan have already racked up quite a few quality players this summer transfer window this season to bolster their chances of reaching a European Champions League spot in an attempt to re-live their glory days. And now the Italians are reportedly interested in recruiting Wilshere to strengthen their midfield.
The Rossoneri have already signed Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus for £38 million, Andre Silva from FC Porto for £34m and a many other quality players. But now after being linked with Wilshere last season Milan are ready to step up their chase for the Englishman.
Last season, Wilshere joined English side Bournemouth on loan and was rather underwhelming for the entirety of his spell before sustaining another injury that kept him out for the rest of the season.
The brave-hearted Gunner has just one year left on his contract which expires in June 2018 with Wenger looking to get rid of Wilshere before his contract expires.
Also, the England international doesn’t seem to be the player he was when he was younger as his sharpness and fitness seem to be far away from regular first team football at the Emirates
The 25 year old has made just 159 appearances for the North-London side since joining them in 2008, but has had many injuries throughout his career that have halted his progress. However, Milan are also having worries over the prospect of signing Wilshere with the constant threat of injury woes that he has been through.
On his day, Wilshere is one of the most eye-catching footballers in the center of the pitch, with classy passing, linking up with team-mates and understanding of the game. Despite his small built, he isn’t afraid to put in the tackles and do the dirty work for the team.
Why Retaining Wilshere Won’t Really Work?
Though the 25 year old superstar is a high quality player, injuries have made his life miserable in recent times and he has never really been able to build a momentum. His career has gone downhill and there is no guarantee that Wenger will be able to give him enough game time, in the days to follow.
Due to this, the French manager has now made him available in the transfer market and a lot of clubs in England wanted him too. Well, rather than selling him to a direct rival, it would be a better choice to sell him to the Serie A giants, where he could revive his career.
However, it would depend on the attacker, whether he wishes to leave his native country or not. If he is comfortable being in England, he might join some other club, in the top flight of English football.
