Here Is How Bukayo Saka Has Changed After Friendship With Martin Odegaard

Arsenal and England are benefiting greatly from Bukayo Saka’s performance. The Arsenal staff has seen a shift in Saka’s mentality as of late. It seems that this change is happening at the same time that his bond with Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is blossoming. It seems like Saka benefits from their friendship, particularly in terms of leadership.

A large part of England’s expectations for Euro 2024 currently rest on Saka. Saka, like Declan Rice of Arsenal, is an important cog in Gareth Southgate’s wheel. Despite some skepticism over his starting role—particularly in light of Cole Palmer’s ascent to the position—Saka demonstrated his value against Serbia. Saka tormented the opposition and propelled England ahead in that match, proving once again why he is important.

Here Is How Bukayo Saka Has Changed After Friendship With Martin Odegaard

Saka has developed leadership skills on the field. He isn’t only doing well; he is also assuming more responsibilities. It seems from his play that he is maturing into a player who can motivate his colleagues and set a good example. What the Arsenal team has seen is congruent with this new information. More responsibility at the club has fallen on Saka as a result of his friendship with Odegaard. The weight of this duty seems to have followed him into his position with England.

The England team is starting to see Saka’s leadership more and more. Regardless of the team’s manager in the future, Saka and Rice are anticipated to keep this responsibility. He is an integral component of the team because of his effect on games and his ability to motivate his teammates. Some feel that Saka would be better served by returning to the defensive role he had under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal. England needs a left back ASAP since Kieran Trippier is out with a cramp and Luke Shaw isn’t 100%. Some have speculated that he may step in to fill the void because of his expertise in that role during the 2020–21 season.

But shifting Saka to defense might limit England’s offensive potential. Saka is very good at getting past defenders and setting up other players to score. Southgate would be hesitant to make such a major substitution at the Euros, despite Jarrod Bowen’s strong performance in Saka’s absence. It’s clear that Saka has grown as a leader and a player. The trust he has built with Odegaard has been crucial to his development, and he has shown it in his play on the field. Because of the importance of his job for England, shifting him to defense would be an extreme measure. Given his present form and leadership attributes, Bukayo is an integral component of Arsenal’s and England’s strategies.
