Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are set for a big boost as star winger Eden Hazard is in the process of signing a new deal in a few weeks’ time. The Belgian starlet was linked with a move away from Chelsea over the summer transfer window but a new deal would see him remain at the club for longer.
Hazard’s current deal expires in 2020, but a lucrative new contract would see him extend his stay at the club for another year where his salary would rise astonishingly. Hazard is on a £100,000 a week deal but the new contract would see that figure being doubled to £200,000 a week. And Chelsea seems to be confident that the 26-year-old will put pen to paper on his new contract.
Hazard stated it would be a ‘dream’ to join Real Madrid which sparked rumors of a potential switch to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Chelsea winger was quoted earlier in the summer as saying that, “We all dream. Of course, I would consider it if Madrid made an offer.”
I am keen to win trophies. It would be great to win the Champions League.”
“But Chelsea’s goal is to win the Champions League as well.”
“Honestly, I do not know what will happen.”
“I only know that I still have a contract with Chelsea for three seasons and that we just had an amazing campaign.”
But in the coming few weeks Hazard will be offered a new Chelsea contract where he would be able to commit his future at Stamford Bridge. Hazard has been out of action for most of the new season after a broken ankle but is expected to take part in the fierce London derby against Arsenal on Sunday.
His manager Conte mentioned, “We must have a bit of patience with him to give him the possibility to recover very well, to be totally fit.”
“I think this is the right process for him.”
“Don’t forget in the team there are two players, Pedro and Willian, who are playing very well but we must be pleased to see him in the team.”
It will be crucial for Chelsea to extend their superstar’s contract. Hazard was a key member of the Chelsea squad which helped them win the Premier League title last season scoring 15 goals and notching up 5 assists.
Hazard joined Chelsea in 2012 after moving from Lille and has gone on to make 175 appearances for the club scoring 57 goals.
How Big Is This!!
If the attacker does indeed sign the deal, it will be a huge boost for the London based outfit who have been trying to fend off any interest from the champions of Europe. After winning both the Champions League and the La Liga, Real were keen on having the Belgian international and were trying their best to sort things out.
Despite that, it seems that the player is now ready to sign a new deal with the west Londoners and will not be leaving Stamford Bridge any time soon, which will be a positive thing from Conte’s point of view.
The new season has seen the English giants have some ups and downs already and it will be interesting to see how things develop now. Beyond The Posts is the place to be!!
