Malang Sarr is almost ready to leave Chelsea for RC Lens in Ligue 1. According to French journalist Santi Aouna, 25-year-old Sarr is almost set to permanently relocate from Stamford Bridge after already agreeing on personal terms with Lens. Sarr’s path at Chelsea has been far but seamless. He has not found regular first-team football easy since arriving in August 2020. Although he spent time on loan at AS Monaco and FC Porto, he failed to establish a starting place at either team. Given his Chelsea contract expires next summer, it seems logical the club wants to move him now.
25-year-old Chelsea Defender Is Set To Leave
Sarr made 21 overall Chelsea appearances in all competitions, an inadequate record for a player of his talent. Although he helped the squad to win the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021, his time at Chelsea might be seen as a letdown. His performance never lived up to the standards established upon his Blues joining. Now, a trip back to France with RC Lens presents a new beginning. Lens sees possibilities in Sarr to strengthen their defensive line. Sarr has plenty of football left in him at 25, and consistent Ligue 1 playing time might help him to revive his career. Lens will have a strong defender on hand if he can copy his prior performances at OGC Nice, which highlighted his talent.
From Arsenal’s vantage point, this may be advantageous. Chelsea wants to improve their team, hence Sarr’s leaving creates a hole in their defense. Should they not be able to identify a qualified substitute fast, their backline may suffer, thereby providing Arsenal with less advantage in their meetings.
Sarr’s leaving reminds us of how difficult it can be for young players to establish themselves in elite teams. Maybe his trip to Lens is the reset button he needs. Chelsea has to quickly attend to their defensive problems as well. Monitoring such moves might provide Arsenal strategic understanding of competing weaknesses.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have had their eyes on Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. They want to close a deal quickly. Worth €25 million, the Italian star seems like a bargain given such ability. Chiesa attracted the attention of these Premier League heavyweights last season with ten goals across competitions. Chiesa is ready-made for the Premier League with his combination of technical ability and physical strength. At twenty-six, he is in prime to meet fresh challenges. Promising him a stage to pursue titles, both Tottenham and Chelsea provide him a chance at the big time in English football.
Having seen Dejan Kulusevski struggle last season, Tottenham has to improve on the wings. Chiesa brings both goals and inventiveness by playing on either side. More competition in large areas will only let Spurs improve their performance. Chelsea has, however, substantially invested in Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk in recent summers, although both have underlived. Chiesa’s pedigree could provide the boost need. Although he may fit in well and have an influence, the issue still stands: can they get his signature?
