Newcastle United are reportedly set to battle Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Patrick Dorgu, US Lecce’s promising wide player. The Danish international has been drawing interest across the Premier League, and the Serie A club is expected to demand between €30 and €40 million for his services.

Dorgu has made a name for himself in Italy, rising quickly since his move to Lecce from FC Nordsjaelland. Initially joining the Italian club on a loan deal in July 2022, he made a strong enough impression for Lecce to make the move permanent just a year later. Since then, he has emerged as one of the brightest young prospects in Serie A.

Chelsea get competition from Newcastle United and Tottenham For this €30-40 million target

Dorgu’s adaptability and pace have caught the attention of scouts, making him a target for several high-profile clubs. Newcastle United are among the teams interested in his potential, with the Magpies looking to strengthen their squad depth on the flanks. Known for their strong transfer strategy under their new ownership, Newcastle would be keen to secure a player who can provide youthful energy and versatility on the wing.

Tottenham Hotspur are another club reportedly eyeing Dorgu. Spurs, under new management, are in a rebuilding phase and are eager to add dynamic players to their roster. Dorgu’s raw talent and potential align with the kind of signings the North London club has been seeking. With several players nearing the end of their contracts or potentially leaving the squad, Dorgu could be seen as a long-term investment for Tottenham.

Chelsea are also said to be in the mix for the Lecce starlet. After a period of fluctuating performances and underwhelming results, Chelsea’s owners are focused on building a younger, fresher squad. Dorgu, with his athleticism and technical ability, fits the profile of the kind of player Chelsea have been targeting to improve their squad for the future. Additionally, his versatility in both defensive and attacking roles makes him a highly attractive option for the Blues.

Lecce, aware of the growing interest in Dorgu, have placed a valuation of €30-40 million on the Danish talent. They recognize the significant potential he holds and are unlikely to let him leave for anything less than their asking price. Given the interest from Premier League giants, this fee might be seen as reasonable, especially considering the premium clubs often pay for promising young players.

Opinion:

While Dorgu’s stock continues to rise, the race for his signature will likely intensify as Newcastle, Tottenham, and Chelsea evaluate their options ahead of future transfer windows. Lecce will be keen to maximize the value of their rising star, ensuring that if a move happens, it will be on their terms.

The competition for Patrick Dorgu’s signature reflects his rapid development at Lecce. With Newcastle, Tottenham, and Chelsea in the mix, the young Dane is set to have plenty of options in the Premier League. For Dorgu, moving to the English top flight would represent a significant step in his career. However, the final decision may depend on which club offers him the best chance to continue his development while also providing regular first-team opportunities.

From a personal perspective, Newcastle might be the most intriguing destination for Dorgu. They are on an upward trajectory and could offer him the best environment to grow under Eddie Howe’s management. While Chelsea and Spurs are also attractive options, Dorgu’s best chance of regular playing time and development might come at St. James’ Park.
