Stubborn Reds!!
Southampton superstar Virgil Van Dijk is still keen on making a move to Liverpool in the January transfer window according to the latest reports. The big centre-back has been out of first team action after falling out with the club board and is not giving up on a switch to the Merseyside club in the winter transfer window. Van Dijk was a big target for Liverpool’s defense in the summer but Jurgen Klopp’s side could not land the Dutch defender to Anfield after the two clubs were unwilling to come to negotiating terms with one another.
The Reds have been struggling this season following elimination from the Carrabo Cup and unusual draws due to poor defending which outlines the importance Van Dijk could have in the Liverpool back-line.
The sturdy centre-half is a massive figure with his incredible classy qualities that make him one of the most accomplished defenders in the Premier League. The 26 year old has been vital for Southampton over the course of two seasons guiding them to the semi-finals in last season’s Capital One Cup but has been out of action for a lengthy period of time after suffering a hamstring injury but made an appearance for the Saints in a 2-1 loss against Stoke City in their last outing.
Van Dijk handed in a transfer request to move to Liverpool, away from the South Coast club in the summer but Southampton immediately rejected the request and forced the star to train by himself. Liverpool also appeared to make an illegal bid in order to bring the sensation to the club but then apologized for their actions.
The 26 year old defender though has now stated he is fit and ready to get back to playing regular football. Van Dijk was recently quoted saying, “I’m glad I’m fit again and I can give up 100%,” he said. “I’m not sorry for anything.”
“Of course, I wanted to make a step up, but Southampton did not want me to sell me, but you’re a professional, so now I’ll give everything to the club.”
“Halfway through the season, maybe we can see what’s possible. “
And with Liverpool struggling in defense, they will surely look to bid for van Dijk once again in the January transfer window. But Mauricio Pelligrini’s Southampton are also in a tough spot and may not look to sell any more star players after losing a hoard of footballers to Liverpool.
Editor’s View: Will He Make A Difference??
Well, there is always a small hint of doubt in every fan’s mind that whether or not the player that their club has been chasing for so long is actually worth the price tag that has been put on him. To answer this dilemma, there is a simple explanation. I mean, what could be worse than the current Reds’ defensive line, that has struggled in most of the big games (not counting Arsenal as big anymore).
Things need to change at the back and if Van Dijk can bring some solidity at the back, he is indeed the player that should sign and fast.
