They had lost against Chelsea in the previous match with a margin of 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. With that defeat Manchester United are already 8 points behind the League leaders Manchester City. They will try to close the gap by winning the match against Newcastle United.

On the other hand, Newcastle United had also lost the previous match against Bournemouth with a margin of 1-0. Team News :

Manchester United :

On Friday, Jose Mourinho announced that Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Marcos Rojo are all in contention to face Newcastle United.Phil Jones will also be available to play against Newcastle United on Saturday.

De Gea will start in the Manchester United Goal while Valencia, Bailly, Jones and Young will be in the defense for Manchester United. Fellaini, Herrera, Matic and Mkhitaryan will play in the midfield for United in this match. Rashford and Lukaku will play in the upfront for Manchester United in this match against  Newcastle United.

Newcastle United :

Newcastle have uncertainty over Atsu and Mikel Moreno. Rob Elliot is disbanded with his family struggles as he didn’t feature with his nation, the Republic of Ireland game against Denmark in the midweek.

Darlow will start in the Newcastle Goal while Yedlin, Lejeune, Lascelles and Manquillo will be there in the defense for them. Hayden, Shelvey and Ritchie will feature in the midfield for Newcastle while Murphy, Gayle and Joselu will be there at the upfront for Newcastle in this match.

The Result And Upcoming Challenges-

Well, there was an early scare for the Red Devils, who went a goal down at the start of their match against the Magpies, with Dwight Gayle getting on the score-card. However, goals from Martial, Smalling, Pogba and eventually Lukaku were good enough, in not just turning the match on its head, but also ensuring a comfortable win for the hosts. The game ended 4-1, with the home side not conceding any more goals and scoring four, two in either half.

Mourinho would have been proud of the way that his team would have recovered in the match against the visitors and will want to continue winning matches, as they try to win the Premier League title. Pep Guardiola’s side too were winners on the night and still have an eight point lead, over their domestic rivals, which the Portuguese manager will want to cut-down on, as soon as possible.

Things are looking good at the moment, with the return of some of the injured players like Zlatan and Pogba, who did look impressive yet again and the will now look to prepare for the Champions League clash against Basel.
