How Chelsea Re-Announced Their Contention For The Premier League Title

Chelsea have emerged victorious against West Brom with a margin of 4-0 in the 12th round of match in Premier League. With this win Chelsea are now in third position in the League Table and will hope to chase Manchester City from now on. Antonio Conte has preferred to play with a 3-5-2 formation in this match against West Brom. Thibaut Courtois had started in Chelsea Goal as expected. Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen were in the defense for Chelsea. Davide Zappacosta and Marcos Alonso were playing at both the flanks for them. Tiemoue Bakayoko, N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas were playing in the central midfield for Chelsea while Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard were leading them from the upfront.

 

Tony Pulis had fielded his side with a 3-5-2 formation. Ben Foster was in the West Brom Goal while Gareth Mcauley, Jonny Evans and Ahmed Hegazi were in the defense for West Brom. Matt Phillips, Jack Livermore, Gareth Barry, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Kieran Gibbs were there in the midfield for West Brom. Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez were there in the upfront for West Brom.

 

Alvaro Morata had given Chelsea the all important lead in the match for the first time at 17th minute of the match. Some moments later, Eden Hazard received a yellow card for bad foul. At 23rd minute of the match Alvaro Morata’s backhill pass was picked up very well by Eden Hazard and he had committed no mistake to put it into the Goal. Marcos Alonso had made the scoreline 3-0 for Chelsea at 38th minute of the match from the corner of Cesc Fabregas. The first half had ended with Chelsea leading with 3 Goals at Stamford Bridge.

 

At 62nd minute of the match Eden Hazard had sealed the game for the Blues by scoring a beautiful goal from the pass of Cesc Fabregas. Pedro, Willian and Drinkwater came in the field for Chelsea in place of Hazard, Fabregas and Kante in the second half. West Brom also had made three substitutions but the substitutes weren’t able to make a mark in the match. At the end, Chelsea had emerged victorious against West Brom with a margin of 4-0 in the match.

With this win Chelsea have moved to the 3rd position in the League Table with 25 points from 12 encounters so far. They will now play against Qarabag FK in the Group Stage match of Champions League in the midweek. On the other hand, the defeat of West Brom had put a serious question mark on Tony Pulis’ future at the club. They are now on the verge of relegation zone with 10 Points from the same number of matches played.

Silencing All Doubts About Conte’s Departure-

There were a lot of claims going around that the Italian manager would be leaving Stamford Bridge in the upcoming days, though this dominant win for his side would have silenced all his critics and doubters. Though there is still a long way to go with regards to a title challenge, the Londoners have taken a step in the right direction, it can be said.
