Newcastle United enter race for Arsenal target

Arsenal news: Jamie Gittens has caught the eye this season. The 20-year-old winger has grown into an important figure at Borussia Dortmund, drawing attention with his directness, sharp decision-making, and consistent end product. English clubs have followed his development closely.

His name now circles the transfer rumour mill as top Premier League sides consider reinforcing their attacking units ahead of the summer. Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Chelsea have all reportedly shown interest. With European competition looming for some and squad rebuilding on the minds of others, Gittens fits the profile of a player who can offer long-term quality with immediate impact.

Newcastle have monitored Gittens for some time, and their interest appears to be more than casual. The Tyneside club have relied heavily on Isak and Gordon this season, and the strain has shown in stretches where fatigue or injury hit. They need another attacking outlet, someone who can stretch play or cut inside with intent. Gittens offers that blend.

Newcastle United enter race for Arsenal target

He has not only contributed consistently in terms of goals and assists for Dortmund, but he has also demonstrated maturity in high-pressure games. Arsenal and Chelsea are both tracking him too. The Gunners see him as someone who can rotate with or challenge Martinelli and Saka, both of whom have carried an enormous workload over two seasons. Chelsea, still shaping their attacking line, could see him as an alternative to Mudryk—especially with off-field issues looming over the Ukrainian. All three clubs can afford him, but what will matter is the pitch they present to him in terms of minutes, role, and ambition.

From where I stand, Newcastle look like the best fit right now. They’ve shown they can integrate young talent quickly, and the manager gives players room to grow. Gittens would walk into their squad and fight for a starting role immediately.

He wouldn’t be just another name on a bloated list. Arsenal, while attractive, might offer less immediate involvement due to the form and stature of their first-choice wingers. Chelsea have potential, but they’re still muddling through transition, and that’s risky for a young player looking for clarity. Gittens needs the right balance of competition and opportunity.

Newcastle tick those boxes, and with Champions League football likely next season, the timing works. If they move early and make their intentions clear, they might just convince him. That said, Dortmund will drive a hard bargain. He’s not out of contract, and they know what they’ve got. But if Gittens sees his next step back home in England, this summer could be the turning point. Wherever he goes, he brings quality—and someone’s forward line is going to look a lot sharper with him in it.
