Liverpool will reportedly compete with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to sign 23-year-old Algerian

Arsenal news: The focus on attacking full-backs in the Premier League has grown in recent seasons. Top teams are increasingly looking for versatile profiles capable of defending solidly but who can also offer depth and attacking play. In this context, several English clubs have set their sights on a player who has gained ground without making too much noise. His performances for Wolverhampton have been consistent, and that has prompted the English giants to start evaluating his signing as a potential key summer reinforcement. The competition will be serious and the margin for error minimal.

According to Empire of the Kop, Liverpool are interested in signing Rayan Ait-Nouri and are expected to begin talks with Wolverhampton in the coming weeks. The 23-year-old Algerian, who is also on the radar of Arsenal and Tottenham, has an estimated price tag of between £40m and £45m. His versatility and attacking ability make him an attractive option for a number of clubs looking to revamp their left wing. The player has had a productive season with Wolves, adding goals, assists and consistent performances in both areas of the game.

From Arsenal’s point of view, the situation of their current full-backs opens the door to seriously consider Ait-Nouri. Neither Zinchenko nor Kiwior offer long-term guarantees in that area, and if the Gunners are to establish themselves as serious title contenders, they cannot afford structural weaknesses. Ait-Nouri would not only fit in as a full-back but, because of his attacking profile, could also adapt to a more advanced role if required. His addition would bring something that the team has been missing: a burst down the left flank and defensive solidity with equal numbers. It is rare to find that mix in one player.

However, the decision to go for his signing should be about more than just covering a position. The board has to assess whether spending a considerable sum on a full-back is a priority compared to other areas of the pitch that also need reinforcements. For example, the midfield lacks depth beyond the starting eleven. If the budget is limited, spending 45 million on a full-back could compromise other operations. Moreover, Arteta’s system demands tactical intelligence, and while Ait-Nouri has shown talent, it remains to be seen whether he can perform at that level of demand.

What does this mean?

An alternative reading of this news could focus on the pressure Wolverhampton feel to sell. The high price could reflect not only the value of the player, but also a marketing strategy to get as much revenue as possible. If no club comes close to that figure, they could be forced to lower their demands near the close of the market. In that scenario, Arsenal would have the opportunity to negotiate with more leeway and without haste. The Gunners should not rush, but neither can they pass up an opportunity if it presents itself under favourable conditions. Ait-Nouri represents an interesting gamble, but only if the price and the context fit into the club’s long-term plan.
