Arsenal's Top Target: Will the 22-year-old attacker arrive in London this summer?

Arsenal and their attacking situation has raised questions all season. Although Mikel Arteta’s side have shown great defensive solidity and polished playmaking, their lack of finishing in key games has cost them points.

The fans have been clamouring for a striker with instinct, physical presence and quality. While other big clubs are moving quickly in the market, in London, they know they cannot afford another season without a real ‘9’ of reference. And now, all the spotlight is on one name.

Arsenal’s Top Target: Will Benjamin Sesko arrive in London this summer?

According to a report by Graeme Bailey published by TBR Football, Benjamin Sesko is Arsenal’s new top target. The Slovenian striker has shone in Germany during the 2024/25 season, directly involved in 27 goals. The 22-year-old’s growth has been remarkable, both in goalscoring impact and maturity on the pitch.

Arteta considers him a player who would fit perfectly in his system, a different profile to the one offered today by Havertz or Jesus. The English club are prepared to offer 59 million pounds, but it is not yet known if that figure will convince the German club, who know what they have in their hands and do not intend to give him away.

Opinion:

Is Sesko worth paying that sum? Yes, if Arsenal want to solve an obvious problem. The lack of a reliable striker has been a burden, and the Leipzig player offers something that is in short supply: goalscoring and presence.

It is not easy to find a young striker in today’s market with body, technique and adaptability. Sesko has what it takes to do well in the Premiership. His goal-scoring instinct, his aggressiveness in the box and his mobility without the ball make him ideal for Arteta’s attacking automatisms. Although some suggest exploring cheaper options, the club cannot risk another summer by gambling on half. Time has already been wasted with experiments, and the urgency to compete with the big boys demands firm decisions.

Moreover, passing up this opportunity could prove more expensive. Leipzig, as they have done with other talents, could renew Sesko and raise his value in a few months. Premier League clubs, and perhaps some in Spain, are already keeping an eye on him.

If Arsenal do not close the deal soon, they could be out of the running and be resigned, once again, to improvising in the winter transfer window. The current context does not allow for hesitation. With the Champions League secured and a team already assembled, there is a lack of a striker who can change close games. Sesko could be that figurehead. He may cost 59 million, yes, but how much more will it cost to go on without titles?

If Arteta and Berta believe in him, there is no reason to doubt. Arsenal have the resources, the sporting appeal and the need. All that remains is to act decisively.
