Arsenal are interested in 17-year-old Frenchman

Arsenal continue to show a firm determination to strengthen the midfield in a summer transfer window that is shaping up to be strategic for Mikel Arteta. After securing a permanent place in the Champions League and establishing itself as a serious contender in the Premier League, the London club are now focusing its attention on consolidating a squad structure that combines experience and youth with room for growth.

The sporting management has not remained static and seems determined to act in advance to build a group that does not depend on late adjustments. Between expected departures and signings already in the pipeline, the club’s movements are marked by a clear pattern: renewal without losing competitiveness.

Arsenal are interested in 17-year-old Frenchman

According to Graeme Bailey, quoted by TBR Football, Arsenal have already secured Martín Zubimendi and do not intend to stop there. The journalist claims that the Gunners are also very interested in signing young midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, just 17 years old, who currently plays for LOSC Lille.

Bouaddi is considered one of the most promising players in French football, and his name has begun to be mentioned frequently in the offices of major clubs. Bailey also indicated that the club are working to replace Jorginho, who is already out of the team, and is preparing for the imminent departure of Thomas Partey. Along these lines, in addition to Bouaddi, Arsenal has reportedly explored profiles such as those of Sverre Nypan, Lucien Agoumé and Alan Varela Barrios.

Opinion:

The decision to sign Bouaddi may seem hasty, but it makes sense when you look at Arteta’s project from a broader perspective. The Spaniard has been able to combine youth with immediate performance, as he did with Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli.

Bouaddi, although he has barely played professionally, already shows signs of being a technically gifted player, with good game reading, precision in short passes and surprising tactical maturity for his age. The question is whether signing him now makes more sense than going for a player with immediate impact.

Zubimendi fits in as a starter from day one, but Bouaddi represents an investment with future value that can pay off if worked on correctly. It is not every day that you find a 17-year-old midfielder with positional intelligence, composure on the ball and the ability to adapt to different systems.

What’s next?

Thinking long term, the French-Moroccan could grow into the natural heir to Partey, provided he is given the ideal environment. Under Arteta, there has been clear progress in the development of young players. The key would be not to burden Bouaddi with excessive expectations from the outset, but to integrate him gradually into a system that pays attention to detail.

Arsenal, by tradition and recent planning, is not afraid to bet on young players, but it does so within a structured framework. If the club manage to sign him, they should not pressure him as an immediate replacement, but rather protect his development with patience.

Signing a 17-year-old footballer with little top-level experience may seem risky, but it can also be a shrewd move if the goal is to build for the next five years. Arsenal are not just buying the present, but room for growth, potential and raw talent. The move for Bouaddi, if it goes through, will speak less of urgency and more of vision.
