Fabrizio Romano reveals that Arsenal are set to make a move for world-class Serie A forward

Arsenal: Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that the situation regarding Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman could change

Arsenal are ready to make a move for Ademola Lookman

As the Premier League transfer deadline approaches, Arsenal name have once again been linked with a new player. Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that the situation regarding Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman could change, and the Gunners could now become an option.

Mikel Arteta has taken several big steps to strengthen the team this summer. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres have already joined the squad. After being runners-up for three consecutive seasons, it is clear that the club is now trying to fill every weakness.

The matter:

Still, Arsenal’s priority are still a left-sided forward. That’s why Lookman’s name is in the news. BBC journalist John Bennett described him as ‘world-class’, but his relationship with Atalanta deteriorated this summer.

He even put in a transfer request after differences with the club management. Inter Milan were earlier seriously trying, but the talks broke down due to no agreement on the transfer fee. The Italian club wants Lookman to be sold outside the country, and this is where the interest from Premier League teams increased.

According to Romano, Inter have now backed off, but Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on the situation. Arsenal are currently satisfied with their attack, as the age profile of the squad is balanced. Still, there is a possibility hidden in this story. If Leandro Trossard decides to leave, adding Lookman could be a late but important move for Arteta. This is why this name will remain in discussions in the coming days.

Will Lookman be the right move for Arsenal?

The question now is whether Lookman really suits Arsenal’s strategy. Arteta has so far mostly chosen players who are young and can be part of the project for a long time. Lookman has strong experience and performance, but he does not fit the age profile that Arsenal usually prefers. From this perspective, this deal would seem a bit different from the club’s usual strategy. Meanwhile, Arsenal set to beat Chelsea for this quality attacking midfielder.

The other aspect is Trossard. Arsenal already have options, and Trossard has proven to be important to the team. If he stays, Lookman’s arrival may not be necessary, but if the Belgian forward chooses the exit route, the Nigerian could become an immediately useful option for the team.

The last thing is that for Arsenal, this move may seem like a chance to take advantage of. Sometimes, sudden opportunities in the market determine the direction of the club. This could be true in Lookman’s case, as his departure is almost certain. However, the question will always be whether Arsenal should go against their established strategy and make such a deal. In my opinion, this transfer is not necessary if Trossard stays, but if he leaves, Lookman could prove to be a wise decision. In other news, this Arsenal player wants to leave as FC Porto want him.
