Fantastic signing for the Gunners? Arsenal want to sign 24-year-old Ligue 1 star with 6 goals this season

Arsenal

Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal are currently sitting top of the Premier League with 70 points as the season enters the final stretch. Their push for the title has been built on 21 wins and the best defensive record in the division. Mikel Arteta is still demanding total intensity from his players, and that relentless drive has kept the Gunners fighting on multiple fronts, including a massive Champions League quarter-final.

Even with a recent exit from the FA Cup, the club are fully focused on winning the league and building the squad for the long term to make sure they stay among Europe’s elite. Sporting director Andrea Berta and the recruitment team are now looking for specific types of players to give the attack more variety next season.

Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal have stayed in regular contact with Maghnes Akliouche’s camp

Recent reports from MediaFoot and Arsenal Radar suggest that Arsenal have stayed in regular contact with Maghnes Akliouche’s camp for months to talk about a potential move to the Emirates. The 24-year-old Monaco attacker has been shining with his creative form in Ligue 1, and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on him as they look to challenge the Gunners for his signature.

Valued between €60m and €70m, Akliouche would be a major investment, but he is reportedly open to a Premier League move to take the next step in his career. During the 2025/2026 season, he has notched six goals in 26 league games, with his scoring record split evenly between home and away matches.

His underlying numbers are impressive, too; he’s averaging 0.27 goals per 90 minutes and contributes 0.41 total goals and assists per 90. Stats from Footy Stats show his Non-Penalty xG is 0.31 per 90 minutes, putting him in the top 84% of all Ligue 1 players.

Is signing Akliouche the right move for the Arsenal attack?

Arsenal definitely need a specific type of creative backup for Martin Ødegaard, and Maghnes Akliouche fits the profile of a technician who can handle tight spaces in the middle of the pitch. While a €70m price tag feels high for someone who isn’t a guaranteed starter for every top European club yet, his stats suggest he would do well under Mikel Arteta’s tactical system.

I think the fact that he scores just as often away from home shows a level of mental toughness that a lot of young flair players lack. Chelsea might be able to offer him more game time right away, but Arsenal offers a stable setup where his 0.41 goal involvement could easily climb alongside world-class finishers.

Great talent for Arteta? Arsenal in battle for this U-21 French talent

Arsenal Transfer News: If the Gunners want to avoid the late-season burnout that has hurt them before, they need to bring in this kind of versatile talent to rotate their creative stars. Picking Akliouche would show they are committed to high-potential technical players rather than just quick physical fixes.
