Aaron Ramsey may be sold next summer as he has entered into his final 18 months of the contract, after Ozil signed a bumper new deal of £350,000k a week wages. The Welsh international may ask for a hefty raise on his current contract and that may be the sole reason for the Gunners to sell him. Ramsey however has been impressive for Arsenal this season as he has put in some dominant displays in the heart of the midfield.
Ramsey has made 18 appearances in the Premier League so far and has found the back of the net 6 times, he grabbed a hat trick against Everton last weekend. Aaron has further assisted his teammates 6 times which shows how important he is to this Arsenal side.
Arsenal have done pretty good in the January winter market as they let go of their star player Alexis Sanchez but got Manchester United outcast Henrik Mkhitrayan in return. The Gunners then bought in Borussia Dortmund’s superstar Pierre-Emrick Aubameyang for a club record fee of £56m and the striker has already showed a glimpse of his brilliance as he scored on his debut against the Toffes.
Arsene Wenger is still quite unhappy due to the sale of fellow countryman Olivier Giroud to bitter rivals Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.
Aaron Ramsey however is set to ask a massive pay rise considering his role in the team. Ramsey is currently on a £110,000 a week contract and has reportedly asked for a raise, which would nearly reach £200,000 a week.
Arsenal have offered similar packages to newly signed duo Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan and the Welsh too is hoping for the same pay grade as he is a vital part of the first team and a regular starter.
Ramsey moved to Arsenal in 2008 from Cardiff City for a mere sum of £4.8m, that sum now looks like a bargain considering how Ramsey has turned into a quality player for the Gunners. It is said that he turned down offers from Manchester United and Everton to join Arsenal and said that Arsene Wenger was one of the main reasons to come to North London.
Arsenal will face Tottenham on Saturday in the highly anticipated North London derby. Arsene Wenger’s side will be high on confidence as they hammered Everton 5-1 and will be looking to beat arch rivals in a similar fashion.
Ozil has created the most number of assists and chances in the Premier League since making his debut for Arsenal in 2013 at the club and ended Arsenal’s trophy drought in his first season itself when he helped the Londoners win the FA Cup, a trophy that Arsenal has won thrice now in the last four seasons.
The 29-year-old superstar also came under a lot of criticism by many pundits due to the lack of ambition he shows on the pitch, but statistics prove that he used to cover more ground on the pitch than former team-mate Alexis Sanchez. Ozil will now remain at the club till he turns 32 and Arsenal will be delighted that he signed a new contract extension amid the transfer rumors.
