Liverpool Desperate To Sign This Tottenham Star In The Summer Transfer Window, Will It Happen?

Liverpool needs more men in the middle, and the German coach is desperate for a new face. Despite of having the strongest attacking trio up in the field, Liverpool is suffering in the deep. Fragile defense and inconsistency in midfield is the main reason why they couldn’t show the dominance. Henderson is having a quite good season, where Lallana and Wijnaldum is doing their supporting role. As Klopp is all preparing himself for the expected upcoming departure of Emre Can to Juventus in summer, Liverpool is plotting their stones to pick up new faces.

Victor Wanyama, the defensive midfielder of Tottenham is highly linked in a move to Liverpool. Wanyama joined the Spurs at £11m back in 2015 from Southampton, but since then never got success in establishing his permanent spot in the squad. Though he is a quality staff deep in the field, but he has been really sloppy after returning from the knee injury. He only got two starting in the FA Cup against AFC Wimbledon and Newport County.

With 5 goals in 58 appearances for Spurs, this 26-years-old has received markedly short play time this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Big guns of Premier League like Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in the Kenyan captain. Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has expressed his admiration towards the midfielder several times before. He thinks, Wanyama is the key player for the Spurs and added that He is really a good player and has quality during the game, stamina, work rate and shows great commitment for the team.

Former Reds captain Steven Gerrard who is the youth team coach also suggested his former team to have a ‘monster’ holding midfielder next season to boost the best from the deep.

He is sure about Can’s departure and Keita’s arrival will surely enhance their chance for the league title. Klopp’s 4-3-3 would be a tailor made combination to give place a Henderson and Keita. Wanyama is the centre of interest for the Anfield management for the summer activity and it seems it is not impossible at all. Liverpool has still a huge profit in the bank from the Coutinho deal and they won’t step behind for a huge deal.

Jurgen Klopp has managed quite well to build one of the strongest squads in recent Liverpool history and a defensive midfielder would be ornamental and instrumental also. Some may point out Marko Grujic and Trent Alexander Arnold as future starters, but for a long-standing issue, it is difficult to continue with this stature they have. Liverpool have quite a few options in the bench and they should leap for a new face to grab the better then what they currently have.

Liverpool is now third in the Premier League table having 54 points, just two less than Manchester United in the second position. They have already trashed Porto in Champions League by 5-0 and will go for the second leg on 7th March next. Before that, West Ham and Newcastle will be their opponents in the Premier League facing next.
