Manchester United have been handed a massive boost by Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric in order for his signature in the summer. The Croatian could be on the exit doors at the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of this season with the Premier League giants eager to secure his services.
Manchester United will be losing out on Michael Carrick as the Englishman has decided to hang up his boots by the end of this term and United manager Jose Mourinho will know the importance of finding a replacement for the veteran in the center of the park. Fortunately enough for the Portuguese, there is an inside source at Real Madrid who has stated that Modric could be on the move away from Spain and return to England if the Los Blancos win their third consecutive Champions League.
The La Liga giants are preparing a massive exodus of players in the summer transfer window including a number of first team starters. And surprisingly Croatian midfielder Luka Modric is on top of the list of players to be offloaded in the next transfer window. At 32 years of age now, Modric is unlikely to play any major part for the Galactico’s in the near future and the club has decided to sell him in order to generate funds for new arrivals.
Modric began his career in his native Croatia and started off with Dinamo Zagreb and spent a few seasons on loan with a few local clubs before finally making a big move to the Premier League joining north London side Tottenham Hotspur in 2008 for a fee of £16.5 million, as the then club record fee. He led Spurs to their first ever Champions League appearance since 50 years. His productivity and creativity allowed him to play in a more central midfield role for Spurs and the team flourished with him dictating play around other superstars.
Due to his stellar performances for Tottenham, La Liga giants Real Madrid swopped him up for a fee of £30m in 2012. Ever since his addition to Madrid, Moric has helped the Los Blancos to win three Champions League titles and one La Liga including a Copa Del Rey. His vision and key passes have been admired by plenty and he also packs a strong right foot which helps him shoot from distance. His intelligence to pick out a pass on the pitch often makes pundits and commentators describe him as a ‘midfield genius’.
There are rumors that Marouane Fellaini is also on his way to depart Old Trafford in the summer so Mourinho will need re-enforcements in the middle of the pitch to strengthen his midfield department. According to sources, the Portuguese boss could use either one of the two Frenchman in the form of Paul Pogba or Anthony Martial in order to lure Modric.
Real Madrid could do business with Manchester United as they are keen on new young faces at the club. Pogba and Martial could be the Galactico’s that take Madrid to the next level in the years to come.
