What Will Be The Impact Of Alisson On Liverpool’s Play In The Upcoming Seasons?

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of the Brazilian Goalkeeper Alisson in this summer transfer window. After signing Alisson from AS Roma, the Reds are now one of the favourites to win the Premier League this season. They will also hope to continue their good run in the UEFA Champions League too. After making two back to back big money signings in two consecutive summer transfer windows, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp now wants his team to play well consistently throughout the whole season. In the previous season, we have seen that the Reds have committed several mistakes defensively in the key moments of the vital matches in the previous season.

Liverpool’s previous first choice goalkeeper Karius committed a big mistake in the final of the UEFA Champions League in the previous season. The mistakes were very much costly for his side, as it ended any chance that they had of winning a title yet again.

So, the club management decided to bring in a new experienced goalkeeper to give them the confidence from the back. Alisson certainly possesses the experience of playing for a top European club in the previous season.

Alisson also serves the duty in the same role for the Brazilian national side. His performance was all good for Brazil in the World Cup in Russia till the defeat against Belgium in the quarter final match, where he conceded two quick goals, though the defending was not up to the mark as well.

The Brazilian Goalkeeper Alisson was the top summer transfer target of both Chelsea and Liverpool as it seems. Both the clubs were supposed to go for a bidding war between them to get this player in the next season. Certainly, Alisson’s first choice was Liverpool ahead of Chelsea as he would wish to play in the Champions League next season. Chelsea will not participate in the Champions League next season as they have finished at the fifth position in the Premier League table in the previous season.

On the other hand, Liverpool will need a goalkeeper badly to perform well in the Champions League, as Klopp hunts for his first title with the Merseyside outfit. They have already strengthened their midfield with bringing Fabinho and Naby Keita in this summer transfer window. The addition of Alisson will certainly make them a very strong side to beat in both Premier League and Champions League. According to the recent reports Liverpool have officially made a bid of £65m with £10m bonuses added on with it.

Alisson was the top summer transfer target of Chelsea FC too. The first choice Goalkeeper of Chelsea, Thibaut Courtois is going to Real Madrid in this summer transfer window. Alisson was the first choice of the new manager of Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri. Sarri always tried to get Alisson in the squad till the end of this bidding war. The Blues will not play in the UEFA Champions League next season as they have finished in the fifth position in the Premier League previous season. But a top Goalkeeper like Alisson will always prefer to play in the Champions League than in the Europa League. So, at the end of the bidding war, the Brazilian Goalkeeper Alisson chose to play under the management of Jurgen Klopp in the next season.
