Confirmed: Chelsea Sign Kepa Arrizabalaga To Replace Thibaut Courtois

Chelsea FC have signed the Spanish Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao in this summer transfer window. Chelsea have paid the release clause of Kepa, as Thibaut Courtois has left for Real Madrid in this summer. It was a very late move by Chelsea FC to go for the 23 year old young Goalkeeper in this summer transfer window.

Thibaut Courtois decided not to join the training session of the Blues after the completion of the World Cup. The Belgian Goalkeeper wished to stay with his family at Madrid. Real Madrid were also looking for a new Goalkeeper as their first choice Goalkeeper Keylor Navas is ageing. On the other hand, Thibaut Courtois was desperate to make the move towards Real Madrid. So, Real Madrid have signed Thibaut Courtois with a contract of six years.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is one of the best Goalkeepers available in the transfer market and Chelsea were desperate to find a new Goalkeeper within very short period of time. It was earlier reported that the Blues are going to sign the Brazilian national side’s Goalkeeper Alisson in this summer transfer window. But the Goalkeeper has chosen Liverpool over Chelsea to have the chance to play in the Champions League in the upcoming season. After not getting Alisson, some people might have thought that Chelsea might keep Thibaut Courtois in the next season and somehow can convince him to sign a new contract for the Blues in between the season. But, the things have not gone in this way as most of the Chelsea fans have thought.

Thibaut Courtois has made his mind to join Real Madrid in the upcoming season anyhow. The decision of Thibaut Courtois was conveyed to the new manager of the Blues- Maurizio Sarri just two days ago. Maurizio Sarri did not wish to keep the hold of a player who wished to leave to another club. So the club management of the Blues have activated the release clause of Kepa Arrizabalaga. The release clause of Kepa was slightly in the higher range and the deal was confirmed with the transfer fee worth £71.6m. The 23 year old young Spanish Goalkeeper was given a seven year contract.

The sporting director of Chelsea FC, Marina Granovskaia has stated that the club management have full faith on the young 23 year old Goalkeeper and that’s why he was given a seven year long contract. Kepa Arrizabalaga was brilliant for Athletic Bilbao in the previous season. The young Spanish Goalkeeper has already made more than 50 appearances for Athletic Bilbao in the La Liga. The experience of playing in the league comprising of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann, Kepa Arrizabalaga was able to prove his worth.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has passed the medical of Chelsea FC and he will join the training under the management of Maurizio Sarri from tomorrow. Kepa Arrizabalaga is available to be selected for the match against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Saturday. We have to wait and see what Maurizio Sarri thinks about it.
