A new start under Unai Emery marks the beginning of a new era for Arsenal Football club. Football pundits don’t expect instant success from Emery’s side and rightly so. A lot of questions are being asked about some of the decisions that the club took during the transfer Window. Though the club have managed to sign a decent midfielder in Lucas Torreira, one particular area of concern has been the defense. Summer signings like Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Stephan Lichtsteiner add experience to the defense but Arsenal still lack a young and energetic defender whom the club can rely on in the future years. When Arsenal(previously managed by Arsene Wenger) signed Krystian Bielik, it got a lot of the fans buzzing.
Arsene Wenger saw something special in him and in order to acquire his signature, made 3 offers which ultimately saw the young Polish defender joining The Gunners. From the game time he got at Arsenal, it was evident that this young man has everything a defender needs.
Strong, authoritative and signs of a leader are the qualities which have given Arsenal fans the hope. He can also operate from the defensive midfield and that only adds to his qualities. Bielik had been sent on loan to Walsall, but a series of injuries saw him back at Arsenal. A young player like him needs game time and Arsenal hope that Charlton Athletic can provide him just that. At such a young age, he can only improve and playing in England will only help his cause.
Why do you need to loan out a young player who has a lot of potential? The answer to that is simple. In order to develop, players need game time. When you are a young player at one of the big clubs of England who seek continental as well as domestic success, it is pretty difficult for a young player such as Bielik to break into the first team.
Does it work? A lot of football pundits believe that players with huge potential are ignored once the club starts loaning them. Arsenal are part of the biggest league in the world and naturally the expectations are high. The fans want their team to win trophies, to put it simply. There are very few fans who look at the bigger picture i.e the development of young player who can wear the Arsenal shirt in the future.
Though the success stories are few in number. One player who broke into the first team after a series of loan spells is Andreas Christensen. The young Danish defender featured at the heart of the Chelsea defense which won the F.A Cup last year. Yes, the success stories are limited but when Arsenal fans see a young player such as Christensen featuring regularly for their city rivals Chelsea, they can certainly keep their hopes up. The young players in question should not worry about which club they play for. They should focus on their training and work hard. If they have what it takes, their time will surely come.
