The Truth About Why This Deal With Arsenal Did Not Happen?

After losing two successive matches, finding the reason behind the loss has become one of the major tasks among the Gunners’ management. Arsenal are struggling to get through and now they are in the fourth position from the below. If one gets into the postmortem duties behind their loss in the two opening matches of the season, it would be a lot to showcase. Unai Emery is the new manager at the Emirates and he needs time. Changes have come in the squad and will continue to, but Arsenal must do more in terms of rebuilding after Wenger’s two-decade-plus reign at the helm. The players are still learning to play with each other. It was quite evident as the midfield pivot of Granit Xhaka and Mattéo Guendouzi proved. The two were going stretched quite now and then and Xhaka especially was often left out of position.

The overlapping and communication on the flanks between Hector Bellerin and Mkhitaryan. Bellerin was sloppy and with no connection. Which gave them lapses of concentration and misjudgements on the opponents. Unai Emery needs time and freedom to improve the squad. He needs some space as well as to impress with his style and stamp what he showed back in PSG. It is easy to say that Chelsea are under a new management too and therefore the comparison does not make any sense. Sarri took over a squad that won the title with Antonio Conte where Arsenal, well, you know the answer!

Things have gone harder due to Arsenal’s fixture list. The tough opening  pitted them against reigning champions Manchester City and Chelsea. A better indication of progress may take its way to Emirates under Emery as Arsenal will take on the home match against West Ham on Saturday. West Ham have also lost their opening two games this season under the new head coach, Manuel Pellegrini.

According to to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast guy Ashton, Emery wants more of the high press kind of play and wants Ozil and Mkhitaryan to have defensive responsibilities.

Next comes the sloppy forward where Aubameyang and Lacazette failed terribly wrong. Ozil was nowhere near to his own self and Arsenal missed some serious chances. The last one is goalkeeping and the defence. Defensive attributes has been poor which is quite expected but what’s wrong with Cech! Recently the Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has admired the Gunners’ new signing Bernd Leno as a “brilliant goalkeeper”.

The German international may get his chance after the terrible failure of Cech and got support from his compatriot. Leno arrived at the Emirates Stadium during the summer transfer window for just under £20m from Bayer Leverkusen. Leno is yet to make his debut for the Premier League side though this has not stopped Mustafi from lauding his new teammate. Mustafi has said that he knows that Bernd is very well as they have played together since the Under-15s German team. He also said that he has known him for a long time by now. Leno is a brilliant goalkeeper and has everything a modern keeper needs according to the defender.
