Is This Win A Sign Of Things To Come In The ISL This Season For Bengaluru FC?

BFC kicked off Their IS campaign against Chennaiyin FC at their fortress. After a disappointing final last year they look to change things around this time. They started the game with the formation 4-3-3. Xico Hernandez and Albert Serran making their debut. The away side love playing in Bengaluru, don’t they? After having won two games against Bengaluru away from home, they would wanna continue their streak. Chennaiyin FC played with  the formation 4-2-3-1. Jeje being the sole striker for Chennai. Issac Vanamalsawa Chhakcuak making his debut as replace of Danpal Ganesh.

West Block Blues like always were behind the club even today. They started off the support with starting the March from  bootlegger to the fortress. They continue singing their chants in the fortress.

Bengaluru FC started off the game with high intensity and hunger to win. They almost scored in the third minute with Eric Paartalu header from Rahul Bheke throw in. Chennai kept their composure with Malison Alves leading the line. Chennai had a couple of chances to take the lead. They usually attended from the centre and exploited the flanks which made BFC flanks look vulnerable. Nelson combined with Jeje brilliantly but Mio Sniper failed to covert the chance.

The debutant  Xisco played a beautiful through ball Miku, which was beautifully shot by the Venezuela striker  to break the deadlock in the 41st minute. BFC  ended the first half leading 1-0.

BFC started the game like how they ended first half. They had so much tempo in their game. Udanta did have the chance to double the lead. He had only one defender to beat but he was fouled. Jerry Laringzuala  shown the yellow card. Chetrri also got a chance to double the lead. Chennai did not create many chances in the second half. Chencho was given a bit of time with his new team mates. Xisco had a good game but had to be withdrawn to replace Chencho. The Argentinian striker was brought on to change the destiny of the game. Gregory Nelson was the man withdrawn. Chennai gave it their all but couldn’t find a shot back off the net. The full time whistle was blown with scoreline 1-0 for BFC. Miku goal being the difference. Chennai will look to bounce back on this defeat.

Talking points of the game

BFC defensive shape

BFC were solid at the back. Although they did let Chennai have their chances but most of the duration of the game they were solid. They finally managed to beat Chennai their fortress. Their new center half Albert Serran had a good game. He won a lot of aerial duels. They managed to get the clean sheet.

Salom should have started
Chennai attack was left isolated with only one upfront. Jeje was left isolated with him being the only one upfront. Salom has good pace and they could have used that as an advantage from the start.

Udanta performance

Udanta had a really good performance. He created so many chances for the team. He got himself a couple of chances too. He was really confident when he had the ball at his feet. He played a part in BFC securing first 3 points of the season.

Chennai fighting spirit

Although they didn’t have much of the ball in the second half, they tried creating chances in the last twenty minutes. They put  a lot of balls in the box in the last twenty minutes. Although Jeje was isolated for most of the game, they gave it their all last twenty minutes. They almost scored too but Gurpreet made a brilliant stop. They can achieve a lot of things with that attitude.

Kabra performance

Kabra was injured for most part of last season . He did play in the AFC cup tie this season. He was alright in the AFC Cup. He started today and was impressive. Not many would have excepted him to start today but he put   in a good display to make the manager think about who should start for BFC and who should be dropped to the bench. He intercepted a lot of passes. He helped in linking up the attack too. Overall he had a good game.
