Real Madrid Keen To Sign Manchester United Target To Retain Champions League Title

Jose Mourinho

The European continental club giants Real Madrid and Manchester United are on the lookout to sign Ajax superstar Frenkie De Jong in the winter transfer window in January. The young attacking midfielder has attracted interest from several suitors with his impressive displays and Ajax will have to try their best in order to keep hold of him at the club.

Despite Barcelona losing star midfielder Andres Iniesta and Paulinho in the summer, the Catalonian giants signed plenty of quality midfielders in order to replace the Spanish veteran and the Brazilian including the likes of Arturo Vidal, Arthur Melo as well as Malcolm but Barcelona are still looking to fill the void left by the two immense midfielders. The La Liga champions fell short of the Champions League title last term as well and have watched their league rivals Real Madrid win the prestigious trophy three times in a row. Barcelona now wants to win the elusive Champions League and need to add strength in depth to their squad.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, is winning titles and won the Champions League thrice in succession but suffered a mammoth blow when Portuguese starlet Cristiano Ronaldo decided to leave the Santiago Bernabeu and join Serie A champions Juventus in the summer. The talismanic winger left as Madrid’s all-time top goalscorer and the La Liga club are still on the lookout to replace the 33-year-old and want a young player with Dutch star Frenkie De Jong fitting the bill.

However, the two Spanish giants will face stiff competition from either of the English giants Manchester City or Manchester United as the two Premier League sides are keen on bolstering their teams in the January transfer window.

Manchester United has endured a horrible start to their season and is currently struggling for any sort of hope and ambition. There is a dire need for some fresh energy and provocation in that Jose Mourinho team and who better than a young sensation Frenkie De Jong to come in and lift up the team that is in shambles at the moment.

Even United’s local rivals Manchester City are keen on improving their squad that won the Premier League title by a smashing 100 point record the last term and Pep Guardiola’s team just brought in a star winger Riyad Mahrez. However, Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho in defensive midfield has been one is that the Spanish manager needs re-stabilize. With Jorginho signing for Chelsea, Manchester City has De Jong on their radar. But according to Dutch news outlet, De Telegraaf, Manchester United has made contact with Ajax over a potential move for the 21-year-old De Jong to Old Trafford.

United will face heavy competition from Champions League winners Real Madrid who are in the battle to sign Ajax’s Frenkie De Jong who will be valued at £71.5m during next summer transfer window. The Eredivisie heavyweights were not keen on letting their prized asset leave Amsterdam but with continental giants knocking on their doors, Ajax will probably succumb to their more dominant rivals and allow De Jong to leave in the near future.
