Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is set to rival Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea in the hunt for Borussia Dortmund superstar Christian Pulisic in the upcoming January transfer window. The two Premier League giants are in the hunt for the league title and are aware that they need more attacking firepower in order to compete with champions Manchester City.
Liverpool is currently sitting in 3rd place on the Premier League table and is yet to lose a Premier League game. However, one major issue the Merseyside club is facing off late is the lack of goal scoring mainly due to the dip in form of the attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The dynamic front three are yet to find their rhythm which was seen quite often to the back end of last season. And Jurgen Klopp will be heading into the transfer market thinking whether he may need a different type of attacker in his squad. England international Daniel Sturridge has been used sparingly due to his injury woes and the German boss cannot completely rely on the 29-year-old to play week in and week out if one of his star attackers gets injured, which is the case at the moment. Mane and Salah have pulled up with injuries during their international break which has given the Liverpool boss a bit of a headache at the moment.
Chelsea is also unbeaten this season and head coach Maurizio Sarri has engraved his style of football and philosophy into his side. The Blues are playing some wonderful football this season and talisman Eden Hazard is proving his worth in gold for the West London club. But the Belgian winger has been rumored to join Real Madrid for a massive transfer fee in the winter window. The 27-year-old opened up on his desire to play for the La Liga giants and could make a move to the Santiago Bernabeu if given the choice. However, Chelsea will need to have a backup plan if Hazard departs Stamford Bridge and Sarri has identified Christian Pulisic as the heir to Hazard’s throne at Chelsea if he decides to leave. But the Blues will face stiff competition from Liverpool in the race to sign the young American sensation in the winter as Klopp is also a huge admirer of Christian Pulisic.
The 20-year-old Pulisic has already netted twice in six appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season and is one of the most exciting talents playing in the Bundesliga at the moment. With the Black and Yellow’s currently sitting top of the German League, it’s unlikely that Dortmund will be ready to sell their young prodigy. The most beneficial trait that Pulisic carries along with his pacey nature is the ability to play anywhere along the front line in attack. Not to mention his hard work and determination to win games at such a young age, his dribbling skills are arguably as good as they come and no wonder Liverpool and Chelsea are eager to bring him to the Premier League.
