Barcelona Interested In Signing This Liverpool Attacker In January

A January transfer for Liverpool striker Divock Origi is being considered by Barcelona, according to reports. The Catalans are looking for cost-effective reinforcements for their frontline.

According to a report from Catalan newspaper SPORT, Barcelona is interested in bolstering their offensive options during the January transfer window and have identified a number of cost-effective alternatives, including Liverpool forward Divock Origi.

When he joined Liverpool from LOSC Lille in 2014, the 26-year-old spent the next year on loan at the French club before making the move to Anfield in 2015. After failing to establish himself as a regular with the Reds, Origi spent a further season on loan at VfL Wolfsburg in 2017/18 before being given another opportunity at Anfield.

Origi has had limited game time in Liverpool so far in his career

Origi, despite the fact that he is still not a regular for Liverpool, made significant contributions to the club’s UEFA Champions League triumph in 2018/19 It eventually resulted in a contract extension. As Liverpool won the Premier League the following season, he contributed with a number of crucial goals. But he has struggled to get consistent playing time in the Premier League.

Even though Origi had been declared available for sale during the summer window earlier this season, no suitors came forward to sign the Belgian international, leaving manager Jurgen Klopp perplexed. His time at Liverpool has been limited thus far; he has made just four appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and assisting on two others.

Origi, on the other hand, may find a way out of Anfield during the January transfer window, with Barcelona reportedly interested in signing the Belgian international. The Catalans suffered the loss of two major players during the summer transfer window in the shape of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, but they were unable to properly replace them.

Will Divock Origi be a good signing for Barcelona in the final third?

Memphis Depay has performed well since joining the club, but he has not had the same kind of assistance in the final third. Luuk de Jong has proved to be an underwhelming acquisition, while Sergio Aguero has yet to kick a ball in the Premier League and is likely to return to training only in the second half of next month, at the earliest. With Martin Braithwaite also out due to injury, the Catalans could do with the addition of another striker to their squad.

In light of the club’s financial predicament, Barcelona is looking for cost-effective alternatives, particularly players whose contracts expire at the end of the season, which would make them available for a reduced sum in January. The likes of Origi, Edinson Cavani of Manchester United, and Lorenzo Insigne of Napoli have all surfaced as potential replacements for the Belgian international.

It remains to be known who they will sign when the new year begins in January. However, for the time being, Origi remains a viable possibility on the radar of the Catalan giants.
