Many cricketers have shifted their base in recent years. There might be several reasons behind it. Cricket is considered as an important sport in a few countries and the other countries are known as associated Nations. The associated Nations are trying hard to make their mark in international cricket. They are trying to build a proper cricketing structure. Many cricketers of the top playing Nations are falling behind in the pecking order. So, they are trying to shift their base in order to play international cricket.
Here is the list of five cricketers who have shifted their base to other countries-
1. Morne Morkel:
Morne Morkel has donned International cricket with his brilliant bowling skill for his home country South Africa. The pacer has been a part of Kolkata Knight Riders team to lift the Indian Premier League title a few years back.
Morne Morkel’s performance for his country has always been praiseworthy. Morne Morkel’s pace and bounce have always troubled the batsmen a lot. Recently, Morne Morkel has shifted his base to Australia. He has married an Australian woman and now the BBL franchise Perth Scorchers have signed him as a domestic player for the upcoming BBL season.
2. Corey Anderson:
The star all-rounder of New Zealand, Corey Anderson has fallen back in the pecking order and he has decided to play USA Major cricket after retiring from his International side. Corey Anderson has been a utility player for his side at the peak of his form.
Now, Corey Anderson has shifted his base to the USA. His fiance is also from the USA and Corey Anderson has spent his time in the USA during the pandemic situation. USA Cricket Board has a rule that the players from different countries have to stay in the USA for three years to be eligible for playing. Corey Anderson will soon make his mark with USA cricket team in recent future.
3. Anshuman Rath:
Anshuman Rath has been a brilliant performer for the Hong Kong Cricket Association. He has come in the limelight with a brilliant inning of 73 runs against India in the Asia Cup.
Despite a solid opening partnership, Hong Kong has not been able to win the match against India. After that, Anshuman Rath has decided to shift his base to India. He has now started to play in the domestic circuit of India. Currently, he plays for Vidarbha Cricket Association in Ranji Trophy.
4. Usman Qadir:
Usman Qadir has started his cricket career in Australia. His childhood coach has inspired him to represent Australia in international cricket. However, Usman Qadir has shifted his base and he has decided to play for Pakistan.
Usman Qadir’s leg-spin bowling has been quite impressive in the first three matches for Pakistan against Zimbabwe. Now, Usman Qadir has been a member of the squad of Pakistan against New Zealand.
5. Sami Aslam:
Sami Aslam has expressed his desire to move to the USA after falling back in the pecking order. The left-hander opening batsman has made his debut for Pakistan in 2016. However, he has not been able to maintain his place in the starting XI for a long time.
