Former Arsenal And Chelsea Man Made Huge Claim About Barcelona

Former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has claimed that Barcelona would be worthy winners of the La Liga title. He also responded to former Chelsea team-mate Thibaut Courtois. The Real Madrid goalkeeper recently stated it would be “unjust” if the Blaugrana would be handed the title. This was him saying so if the Spanish season would be scrapped due to Coronavirus.

The Blaugrana currently sit top of the table after 27 games played, leading their arch-rivals Los Blancos by just two points. Courtois declared that his side could still catch the Catalan club, as he said: “I am sure we can still be champions. It would be a shame if the season was stopped for good. If it was, I would find it unjust that Barcelona was crowned champions. In Barcelona, they must find it logical, but I do not.

“They drew and lost to us, we showed that we were the better team even if they are two points ahead today. I would not find that fair. In England, I can understand that Liverpool would be named champions because they are 25 points ahead. Either we play it all or we don’t finish, but then we do not designate a champion.”

The example that the former Arsenal and Chelsea man gave

Responding to his former Blues’ team-mates views, Fabregas reflected on the situation in France. The ex-Chelsea man spoke about the situation where Monaco have been denied European football for next term after the Ligue 1 campaign was axed.

Speaking to TVE, he said: “Everyone defends their own interests. At Monaco, we have been left without Europe next year. But if [LaLiga] stopped, as it has done in France, Barcelona would be worthy winners. We are not stopping because we like it. We are doing for an unavoidable cause.”

Fabregas played alongside Courtois at Stamford Bridge for four seasons, with the pair part of two Premier League-winning sides.

The former World Cup and European Championship winner with Spain also stated that he feels the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season may have been cancelled too soon, amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Paris Saint-Germain was declared champions. Amiens and Toulouse were relegated after the season was called off. Most teams still had 10 games remaining.

As the Bundesliga prepared to restart on May 16 and the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga tried to resume (back then), Fabregas believes the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) could have waited before ending the season.

What the Spanish midfielder told beIN SPORTS?

He suggested that they took a quick call. They should have probably waited a bit longer, as per him. He added, “Although I completely understand the meaning behind it and it is better to be safe in all accounts because the most important is the families and the health security of everyone and support this 100 per cent.

“But maybe we could have considered individual training, where you have basically no risk. You are not touching anyone, you are not close to anyone. See if everyone was getting closer to football behind played all over the world.

“Obviously, it is very difficult and I understand someone needs to make decisions. We just have to do what they are telling us. Difficult moment in our professional lives and personal lives, but we just have to hold on and everything will be fine in the future for sure.”
