IPL Auction For New Franchises Expected To Take Place On October 17

IPL Auction Update- While the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season has yet to be completed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has begun preparations for the next season. After all, IPL 2022 will feature two more teams, bringing the total number of teams to ten. The auction for the two additional franchises is expected to take place on October 17, according to the latest information.

With the IPL being one of the most well-known T20 tournaments in the globe, numerous well-known companies and business moguls are interested in acquiring more franchises. As a result, it will be intriguing to observe how the auction goes. With both teams’ base prices at INR 2000 crore, the BCCI is projected to make at least INR 5000 crore by the end of the auction.

After the IPL 2021 final, a new IPL auction for the upcoming teams will be held

While no formal announcement has been made, according to Cricbuzz, the bidding event will most likely take place on October 17. BCCI has informed the parties of three crucial dates, according to the information obtained: September 21, October 5, and October 17. Up until September 21, clarifications can be requested, the ITT (Invitation To Tender) document can be purchased until October 5, and the auction will most likely take place on October 17.

It has also been established that there will be no e-Auction and that the regular bidding process will be used. The bidding event might take place in Arab cities like Dubai or Muscat since the stated auction date is just two days after the IPL final in Dubai and the day the T-20 World Cup kicks off in Muscat.

What next for the teams that will be looking to win the title and be the champions of India?

In the meanwhile, the IPL has been an eight-team tournament since 2014. The addition of two more teams would undoubtedly alter the dynamics. In the league stages, instead of 14, each team will play 18 games. The IPL 2020 season will begin on September 19, with all remaining matches taking place in the United Arab Emirates. With half of the competition over, the UAE leg will be different for each side. While some teams are fighting for survival, others are just a few wins away from making the playoffs.

It will be an interesting end to a tournament that has already gotten a lot of attention. The biggest cricketing league in the world will once again generate a lot of viewership. The fans will be delighted to watch their favourite teams back in action. To add to that, the new teams would extend the duration of the tournament.

Keeping that in mind, the IPL auction is going to be really important. It will help determine the direction this tournament takes in the long run. The ICC and BCCI make the most money off of this competition and it can only get bigger and better. However, the main idea has to be that international cricket should not suffer due to the tournament. Hopefully, that can be overcome in the days to come.
