Mohammed Siraj

India’s No 11 batsman, Mohammed Siraj on Monday spat over the popular idea that described the M Chidambaram pitch as a ‘minefield’ when he smashed a stupendous six only a ball after Ravichandran Ashwin brought up his fifth Test career century. India set a huge 482 run target for England as the visitors lost three wickets by stumps on Day 3.

Siraj, after claiming his first home wicket on his first ball of the Test match, continued to impress pundits as he showed a determined batting side of him on Day 3. Coming in at No 11, when Ishant Sharma had just gotten out playing a rash shot, Siraj accompanied Ashwin – who was in the late 80s – as the duo stitched a 49 run partnership for the last wicket.

If the day had to be named, in fact, if the second Test match had to be named after a player a unanimous chant across the stadium would make the name of ‘Ravichandran Ashwin’ echo all through. The off-spinner first dismissed five English batsmen in the first innings and then scored a fine century in the third to boost the total to set a winnable target.

However, Mohammed Siraj grabbed his share of the spotlight batting with Ashwin. The pacer first received lauds for the way he celebrated Ashwin’s century. Throwing his hands in the air, Siraj ran to Ashwin screaming all the way. Only a ball later, Siraj hit a huge six and the entire dressing room started celebrating.

Here are some Twitter reactions as Mohammed Siraj continues to ‘pawri’, hits a humongous six, and celebrates Ashwin’s hundred like his own:

One Twitter user tweeted:

Mohammad Siraj celebrating @ashwinravi99’s 100 has to be one of my best moments from today so far!

SIRAJ dropping the bat & running to check the bowler when Bumrah hit him on head in AUS and SIRAJ celebrating today when Ash completed his century. Such a humane guy he is. Siraj❤️

Don’t confuse because of the celebration… Mohammad Siraj celebrating Ashwin’s hundred like he made century… That’s #TeamIndia

Over 85th, before 5th ball-

Ashwin to Siraj: “Oye Siraj, main tere oopar bharosa rakh ke 1 liya. Tu bhi wo bharosa rakhna.”

Siraj hits the next ball for a HUGE SIX!

Another Twitter user sarcastically trolled English experts, who were complaining about the pitch.

Yes, India’s #11 Siraj just hit a six!

Nope, not on a different pitch, the same one you’ll are complaining about.
