Opinion: Three Things About Arsenal That Are Making All Gooners Unhappy

Arsenal

Arsenal is in trouble at present. Whether it is the poor ownership or poor management over the years, things are just not right at the club. There is a major need for change at the club with regards to a lot of things. Some may want the manager sacked, while others want the whole system changed. Nevertheless, the one constant thing that everyone can agree to, is the need for it!!

The fans have been demanding it for quite some time. However, thanks to the ownership (the Kroenkes), that has not been the case thus far. The situation at the club is far from ideal. Each season, the position in the points table is going further down. A major overhaul is needed and while the fans may argue that Mikel Arteta, Edu and Vinai are the right men for the job, the problem goes way beyond that.

Here are three things that are making all Gooners unhappy at present, with regards to the transfer window-

Not Signing Enough Players That Are Needed To Make This Arsenal Squad Competitive Again

There is a need for a major overhaul in the squad. This has been evident for quite some time now. The fans have been crying out loud to get the deals for quite a few players done. Some of these have not even been identified by the club as targets at times. Keeping the deadwood around was also a major issue. Luckily, Mikel Arteta and co. got rid of them in the recent windows.

With that being said, the number of good players needed at present is either six or seven at least. Despite that, the fanbase is not confident that the owners will spend a ‘warchest’ and get the deals done. Though the start to this transfer window is rather positive, it does last too long. The initial signings are generally followed by a slump each time. This doesn’t make the fanbase around the globe happy.

The fans that actually go out and spend money and contribute to the club’s revenue are still not pleased. They want Arsenal to go back to competing for league titles and the Champions League. However, the only thing that the club competes at present for is the FA Cup and till the last season was the Europa League. Hopefully, this changes soon.

Paying Too Much Money On Some Players That Are Needed

The other major problem is the fact that the negotiating skills of the club is nil. So many top players have left the north London club for no money or an absolutely shambolic low fee. Further, Arsenal ends up paying more money than they should for players who are not worth the price tag. Clubs get more money out of the Londoners, in situations where the club should have the upper hand.

Is Nicolas Pepe at Risk of Being Left Behind at Arsenal Next Season?

Keeping that in mind, the likes of Nicholas Pepe got over-priced, with Raul Sanllehi getting his cut. Further, deals of players like Robin Van Persie, Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey (who left on a free) are enough proof of how the club is messing things up. The Emi Martinez deal to Aston Villa with no buyback clause is another example of the same. Arsenal needs to step up and fast if they want to retain their fanbase!!

Slow Business In Transfer Windows; Not Getting The Deals Done When They Should Be

Arsenal has always been known to be slow in the transfer windows. The Gunners take a lot of time to get started and get their deals over the line. Further, they are not known to sign a marque player till very late in the window, which tends to hurt their overall ambitions for the upcoming season. This has been a major issue with the club over the past decade.

However, since the arrival of Mikel Arteta, that has changed to an extent. Now, with one of the most crucial transfer windows coming up, it will be quite interesting to see how things develop. If Arsenal can get the deals over the line in the current transfer window, things would be really good for them. This is the most crucial phase in their rebuilding process and with the fans on the edge of their seats at present, with regards to their patience, it is the transfer window that could make all the difference.
