The club management of the Blues will have to look for the alternatives for Willian very soon. Willian is currently 31 years old and his contract with the Blues is going to expire after the end of this season. The veteran Brazilian winger is currently wishing to get a new contract of two years. However, the club management of the Blues have still not given a green light to the contract extension yet. So, it can be assumed that the Blues are certainly eyeing to find an alternative option of Willian in wider areas. However, it will be difficult for Chelsea to land a star player in this winter transfer window as the clubs will not be ready to let their player go at the middle of the season.
Willian is having a moderately good season at Chelsea. He has scored 4 goals and assisted in 4 other goals for the Blues so far in 2019-20 season. His performance against two London rivals of Chelsea were remarkable. The manager of the Blues might well be impressed with his performance and urge the club management to keep the player at Stamford Bridge. Willian has served Chelsea with his 100 percent throughout last 8 seasons. So, it will be an emotional decision for both the club and the player.
Here we will discuss the three players Chelsea can sign as the replacement of Willian.
1. Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace):
The winger of Crystal Palace, Wilfried Zaha is in the radar of the Blues for quite some time now. Now it is seeming that the club management of the Blues are very close to sealing the deal. However, the club management of Crystal Palace are not willing to sell Wilfried Zaha with a transfer fees less than £80m at this moment. The transfer fees might seem to be little too much for Wilfried Zaha.
That is why the club management of the Blues are still trying to negotiate with Crystal Palace to reduce the transfer fees. If both the parties come to an agreement soon, we might see Wilfried Zaha coming at Stamford Bridge this January.
2. Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund):
The west London giants are eyeing to make the move for the youngster of Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho from last few months. However, the rumour is currently dried down as the club management of Borussia Dortmund are not ready to sell their player in the middle of the season.
The club management of the Blues are preparing a high bid for this player in the upcoming summer transfer window. Willian’s future at Stamford Bridge will be highly dependent on this deal.
3. Leon Bailey (Bayer Leverkusen):
Leon Bailey has also been in the radar of Chelsea for quite a long time. However, there is no recent rumour about this player’s link with Chelsea. Leon Bailey has the pace to cause all sorts of problems in the opponent defence.
The only problem is his consistency. If the 23-year-old Jamaican footballer improves a bit, he can well be the replacement of Willian at Chelsea.
