Suresh Raina gives insights about the relationship and bond between him and MS Dhoni in a recent chat with Aakash Chopra. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni share a very good relationship between them. Raina played a majority of his career under MS Dhoni. Both of them even plays for the same franchise Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, since the start of the tournament. In a recent chat with cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra, Raina talked about his relationship and bond with MS Dhoni.
Raina has been involved in some match-winning partnerships with MS Dhoni for Team India. He also plays the same role for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Raina has remained mighty consistent for CSK and hence is also known as the ‘Mr IPL’. Raina is also 2nd in the list of the batsmen who have scored the most runs in the IPL.
MS Dhoni has played a crucial role in shaping the career of Raina as a middle-order batsman. In a recent interview, Raina revealed that destiny wanted him and Dhoni to play together for the Chennai Super Kings. He even said that the former India Captain always had a solution for any problem on an as well as off the field.
What did Raina say about MS Dhoni?
Raina revealed that Dhoni has always provided him with good advice and he feels proud to have played under Dhoni. “I think it was destiny for MS and me to play in one place (CSK). The love from people there, it did not seem different. We kept performing and people adopted us as their own. His presence of mind and positive attitude is great, he has the answers to all questions.”
“He has never told me what to do, he has only advised me and changed my mindset a lot. Everyone plays cricket, but I am proud that I became a better person while being with him,” Suresh Raina said.
Both of them were part of the CSK pre-season training camp
MS Dhoni has remained out of the game since India’s loss against New Zealand in the semi-final against New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Talks about his retirement are on the air and debates are being raised over the former Indian Captain’s future in the national colours.
Raina and MS Dhoni took part in the CSK training camp before the start of this year’s IPL. They were batting together during the practice sessions and were set to take the field in the IPL. However, the Coronavirus pandemic forced BCCI to postpone the IPL indefinitely.
There is no real sign of cricket coming back at any time. It might be back at the end of the year, with the IPL returning soon. However, the T20 World Cup might be postponed to the next year. That could be beneficial for Indian cricket, which might flourish once again. However, both these stars really need the IPL to happen, if they wish to make a return to the Indian team in the upcoming days.
