Indian Legend Left Out- The former Australian cricketer, Tom Moody has revealed his best T20 XI around the world. He has picked David Warner and Rohit Sharma as his opening batsmen. Rohit has been the skipper of the Mumbai Indians and has won 4 IPL titles as a captain. Meanwhile, David Warner is the foreign player with the most number of runs in the IPL.
Virat Kohli takes the number three slot in his team. Kohli is the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and is also the leading scorer in the cash-rich tournament. However, Moody picked Rohit Sharma as the captain of his team. AB de Villiers takes the number 4 spot in the team.
The South African is one of the dangerous batsmen and has been playing for the RCB since 2011. Both Kohli and AB has put on a formidable partnership and already has two 200+ stands. Moody revealed his XI during a live chat with Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz.
Moody did not pick MS Dhoni in his XI
Interestingly Moody picked Nicholas Pooran as the wicketkeeper-batsman in his team. He felt the need of a left-hander in the XI. Moody understands the damage that Pooran can inflict, having worked with him in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL),. So, he left out a big name of MS Dhoni from his XI. Although, he revealed that he is a big MS Dhoni fan. CSK has won three IPL titles under MS Dhoni.
Moody picked up the Caribbean and Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder, Andre Russel. Russel is one of the deadly batsmen in the T20’s. He has already scored two T20I tons, playing for the Jamaica Tallawahs. He picked Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan as the specialist spinners. Both of them weave magic with their bowling and can even destroy bowling line ups with their batting on their day. Finally, Moody picked Mitchell Starc, Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah as his three pacers.
All three of them are deadly with their yorkers and are the best in the business. He picked Ravindra Jadeja as the 12thman in the team, mainly because of his fielding abilities.
Here is Tom Moody’s World T20 XI:
David Warner, Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Mitchell Starc, Rashid Khan, Jasprit Bumrah, Jofra Archer, Ravindra Jadeja (12th man)
Well, this will surely spark a lot of debate amongst the fans. We all know how protective MS Dhoni’s fans are of the Indian legend. They have already shown their fury at times in the past. Akash Chopra was on the wrong end of things at one point in time.
Luckily Tom Moody is not an Indian and is safe for now. It will be interesting to see what the reaction of the fans will be once the IPL resumes. One can only hope for the best. We all wish that the IPL does indeed happen this year. It could be the last chance for a lot of players including MS Dhoni to cement their place in the Indian side for the T20 World Cup.
