The IPL 2021 Update- IPL giants and three times title winners CSK have had a horrible start to the 2020 season. The curse is still going on as they have already been eliminated from top-four spot contention. The batting conundrum has caused the side to suffer in each match. They have managed only three wins in their first 10 matches. Reportedly, the CSK board and management are now thinking of a complete rebuild. An inside source has conveyed that some tough calls will be made by the management in the upcoming days.
The Story Of The IPL 2020 Season
The Chennai side has been highly criticized by cricket experts and their own fans this season. The regular lack of performance by the middle order and CSK as a whole, have disappointed the masses.
The high age factor of the CSK players is the main talking point. Apart from a few good knocks by Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson, the team has looked pretty lacklustre all throughout.
The main or core players of CSK, namely MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne bravo have seemingly lost their touch. Stephen Fleming, under media pressure, was bound to admit that the current set of players have ‘run out-of-juice’.
The captain and main player of the team MS Dhoni have also been criticised. His captaincy has been questioned by some fans. The likes of Piyush Chawla and the much loved Kedar Jadhav have also had a tough season.
These reasons combined have put the fans in unrest. The board is now forced to take some steps. An inside source has anonymously informed that “As Fleming said, a lot of chinks in the armour have been exposed this time. Some tough calls will surely be taken.”
What Next For CSK For IPL 2021?
All this indicates that the CSK board are looking for a rebuild in the team. Many veteran players will be axed probably including some rather surprising ones. The team will be then be filled with some young players.
All these changes will be starting from the next season. The club has already terminated contracts with Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh. The exit of Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson, Kedhar Jadhav and Piyush Chawla is pretty much imminent.
Also, there have been rumours that this would be Thala’s (MSD’s) last season of IPL. That would be the biggest shock the CSK fans as their entire team is built around Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The Final Nail In The Coffin For Some Players?
MS Dhoni has suffered due to his fitness in the ongoing season. Experts think that this might be the end of his career and he can’t just take the pressure anymore. The CSK fans seem disappointed with their beloved captain as well.
A debatable exclusion this season has been Imran Tahir. The last year’s purple cap winner has not been given a single start this season. This decision has been questioned by many. The South African looks disheartened and will probably leave the club as well.
Although the CSK fans love their core team, the rebuild is for the betterment of the team and they know that. Letting go of their veteran players, hence, will not be much of a problem.
