The IPL 2020 tournament is in full flow and the action is getting intense. Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin always echoed his concern about batsmen taking unjust advantage by backing up out of the crease in non-striker end. Though head coach of his IPL team, former Aussie captain, Ricky Ponting said before the IPL that he wouldn’t like Ashwin to Mankad a batsman when he plays for Delhi Capitals.
The 34-year old spinner gave warning to Aussie opener Aaron Finch while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The same day he wrote on Twitter citing that this was the final warning by me to batsmen for backing up out of the crease.
Ashwin, later on, told in his YouTube show Hello Dubaiahh that he and Finch are friends. The reason for this friendship is the fact that they played for the KXIP before this. He added that the batting team should be fined, as they tend to steal around ten runs or so doing this. To add to that, Ponting is apparently talking to the ICC about the same.
The Details About The Story And How Ricky Ponting Was Involved?
Further, Ravi Ashwin decided to open up and express his opinion on the entire incident that was once again brought into the limelight. He went on to state that the Australian (Finch) has been a good friend of his.
That is, as they both were previously part of the setup for the Kings XI Punjab. According to the star off-spinner, it is not a credit for the bowler to get the batsman out with mankading. However, it has been a warning given by him to other batsmen also. He will not do the same from the next time.
To add to that, Ricky Ponting was initially seen laughing about the whole incident, as it took place. He declared that he would stop Ashwin from doing it again previously and that indeed did happen. Despite that, Social Media does highlight things as and when they see them happen.
The Tweet About Ashwin And Ponting By Iceland Cricket That Actually Went Viral On Twitter
Meanwhile, Iceland Cricket’s Twitter handle took a dig at Ponting. This was as he opposed Mankading before the IPL and now was talking to the ICC about it. The funny incident followed by this funny Tweet.
“This is so unsporting of MS Dhoni. He does it all the time. The batsman only came out of his crease by a short margin and he didn’t mean to. Dhoni should be giving the batsman a warning and then let him carry on batting.” — Ricky Ponting pic.twitter.com/fMBZ3tYPda

The spirit-of-cricket debate is once again on the loose and it is taking over social media. It is doing the rounds in the cricket world due to the comments made by Ashwin. Now, it will be really interesting to see what approach Ashwin will follow.
That is for the upcoming games of the IPL. Especially when batsmen try to back up out of the crease. Also, all eyes will be on the ICC. It will be interesting to see if they are ready to add penalty on the batting team when batsmen take unjust advantage.
Ashwin’s team Delhi Capitals are playing better cricket than any other IPL team currently. DC is at the moment ranked second, which is something to be proud of. The Delhi Capitals are not often known to dominate the points table, as their IPL history has seen its ups and downs. That too with a rather young team that is performing really well right now.
The Story Of The Current IPL Tournament For The Delhi Capitals
DC as a team is doing really well in the current season of the IPL. That is due to the fact that they have won a total of four out of five games so far. The team is growing from strength to strength. They have lost only a single match in this season of the IPL, which is something to really brag about.
Ravichandran Ashwin has started the season with a bang. The off-spinner has taken two wickets in two overs. However, he has picked up an injury in the match and he has not been able to bowl another over after the first one. After that, he has missed quite a few matches for Delhi Capitals. After coming back, he has been trying hard to get back to his previous form.
