The Prithvi Shaw Story- The Australian team got off to a dream start in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with an eight-wicket win over India in the pink ball day and night Test match at the Adelaide Oval. After the first innings, the Men In Blue had the upper hand with a 53-run lead. They only had to post a decent total to put the pressure on the Aussies.
The Story About Prithvi Shaw That Has Been Doing The Rounds
In the second innings, Prithvi Shaw once again got out in the same fashion as Patt Cummins came up with a great in-swinging delivery to disturb stumps. Jasprit Bumrah came on as a night watchman and survived the last few balls.
However, India returned to the third day and the great batting collapse started in the first session courtesy of a great spell from Patt Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. Prithvi Shaw had a match to forget as his stumps were rattled in both innings and he went out cheaply.
Aussie opening batter Joe Burns was also going through a similar phase as Shaw where he was down on confidence. Burns said in an interview that he won’t give any advice to the Indian youngster just after the first game.
Burns was also low on confidence and had David Warner and Will Pucovski stayed fit, the 31-year old would not have made it to the starting lineup. He had the best opportunity to score runs when the Aussie came out to bat again in the second innings. Burns came out with a positive attitude and scored a brilliant knock off 51 runs.
What Joe Burns Said In A Recent Interview With ANI?
Prithvi Shaw was castled in both innings by Mitchell Starc and Patt Cummins respectively. Therefore, he has been a major headache for the Indian think tank. The youngster who has been trusted to give India good starts along with Mayank Agarwal have failed in the first Test match in both innings. This has put a lot of pressure on India’s no.3 Cheteshwar Pujara. He got exposed to the new ball very early in the innings.
“I would not give him any advice as I am playing against him. Am hoping that he makes no runs at all. I actually do not know what form he is been in. I have not been following him. He is obviously a quality player if he is playing for India. I might give advice at the end of the series, but not after the first game.”
Both India and Australia are preparing for the Boxing Day Test match. That will be held in Melbourne Cricket Ground on the 26th December. After getting bowled out for only 36 there was a lot of pressure on the Indians to come back with a strong statement. It is highly unlikely that Prithvi Shaw will get any chance to redeem himself. Shubman Gill is set to replace him in the starting eleven.
India will be in search of positivity from the second Test but things will be all the more difficult to perform against the Aussies. They will be without their captain and star batsman Virat Kohli in the next three matches.
