The Funny BBL Single Incident- In the match between Sydney Thunders and Melbourne stars, the cricket world witnessed a very rare incident. During the innings of Melbourne stars, Nick Larkin got involved in a hilarious situation in the death overs, playing against Daniel Sams. The Australian batsman tried to sweep the ball and started running for a single.
The fielders then realized that the ball was missing! They then found out that it was stuck in the inner concavity of batsman Nick Larson’s pad! A video clip of this incident has been posted in Cricket Australia’s official Twitter handle and has gone viral in no time.
The BBL Video Of Nick Larkin That Went Viral
In match being played at the Manuka Oval as we talk, Melbourne stars won the toss and elected to bat first. The team led by Glenn Maxwell were off to a great start, thanks to a power-hitting performance by opener Marcus Stoinis. His partner Andre Fletcher was dismissed early though, but then came in Glenn Maxwell and took control of the innings.
A responsible partnership between two of the best batsmen of the team had already taken the team to a very suitable total. Marcus Stoinis scored 61(37) and skipper Glenn Maxwell scored 39(29). It was now the up to the finishers to end what the explosive duo started, in style. However, all the other batsmen let the captain down and all of them scored in single digits. It was during this innings that the funny incident between Nathan Larkin and Daniel Sams occurred.
Nick Larkin’s attempted slog-sweep against Daniel Sams but the white Kookaburra somehow found its way up the batsman’s jumper, carried halfway down the pitch before popping out, much to everyone’s amusement. The players on the field couldn’t stop laughing at it. Social media is also drooling over the video clip and fans have started making memes on the same in the meantime.
Melbourne Stars Somehow Managed To Score 169/8 In 20 Overs
Coming on to chase,
Sydney Thunders lost an early wicket in the form of Usman Khawaja. However, the partnership between
Callum Ferguson and Alex Hales gave them hope. Ferguson went in to play an innings building knock of 54 (35). Alex Hales complimented his innings by himself scoring 46 off 41 balls. It was all going in Sydney’s favour but suddenly, Melbourne’s Liam Hatcher struck hard.
The Australian took three quick wickets to dismantle the batting order of Sydney Thunders. These were including the big wicket of Callum Ferguson. Clint Hinchliffe took the wicket of Alex Hales and the damage was done. Sydney Thunders were not able to rise up after the loss of their two main batsmen and that took away their momentum.
In the end, Sydney Thunders were only able to make 147/9 in 20 overs. Melbourne Stars won the match by 23 runs. It would have been a disappointing result for the team from Sydney. That was, as they were in a very suitable situation to win it. However, more than the outcome of the match, that hilarious moment was highlighted. It was when the ball was nowhere to be found, is more likely to make the headlines of the day.
