Delhi Capitals’ make a great start to IPL 2021; can they win it this time?
The Delhi Capitals kicked off their IPL 2021 campaign in a bright fashion, by registering a victory against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK posted a competitive total of 188 on the board by batting first. However, Delhi Capitals made a meal of the chase. The opening duo of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan just destroyed the CSK bowling attack.

In just 13.3 overs, the duo stitched together a partnership of 138 runs. This became the third-highest opening partnership for Delhi Capitals in IPL history. It is also the second-highest partnership for any wicket against Chennai Super Kings.
Some records set in the game against CSK
The opening partnership just took the game away from Chennai Super Kings and titled the odds in Delhi’s favour. Shaw amassed a quickfire 72 off 38 balls. His opening partner, Shikhar Dhawan scored 85 runs off 54 balls as Delhi Capitals chased down the total of 189 with utmost ease. Dhawan hit 10 fours during his innings and now has git 601 fours in his IPL career. He has now registered the record of becoming the first player to hit 600 fours in IPL history.
Delhi Capitals will now face off against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 15, 2021. It should be a good game as well. However, the team lead by Sanju Samson suffered a loss in their first match as well. That was despite the skipper putting on a good fight.
Batting first, Chennai did not get off to a good start. They lost two of their wickets for just seven runs, which has been their main problem last term as well. Suresh Raina, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran helped the yellow brigade to reach a total of 188 runs. For Delhi Capitals, Chris Woakes and Avesh Khan scalped a couple of wickets each. They always looked in control and won the game rather comfortably. Let’s see which team now performs well!!
